I worked at Berkadia full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Healthcare benefits and 401K match

    Cons

This is a company that literally eats its young. As others have said, pay is terrible, bonuses are arbitrary and career paths within ALL sales support functions are effectively non-existent. Executives pay lip service to employees, but only care about producers. If you are generating “sufficient” fee income you can literally get away with just about any malfeasance. Work life balance...

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes. Pay attention to what your producers are doing that’s a tarnish on the company, the industry and the perceived professionalism of mortgage banking and investment sales. You have managed to take what should be a fairly straightforward business and unnecessarily layer and complicate it. Focus on morality and ethics!

I worked at Berkadia full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits are okay but for a large company you would expect better

    Cons

Houston office notorious for negative work environment and demanding and difficult management. No HR on site to assist. I think other companies are fine but there is little work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge the contributions your team makes instead of demeaning when mistakes happen.

I have been working at Berkadia full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Above average pay and benefits. Great 401k Match. Reasonable Quality of life. Amazing holiday schedule. Multiple Employee celebration events throughout the year.

    Cons

Busiest times of year can be very demanding and skew the Work/Life balance in the other direction. Currently no clearly defined paths for advancement.

    Advice to Management

You are on the right track!

I have been working at Berkadia full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Depending on the team and manager, work life balance can be great. Coaching is always available when needed and coworkers are friendly and care about you, not just your work.

    Cons

Training is limited, that is to say on the job training is mostly done peer to peer and on the fly. There really isn't a formal training setup for any one job specifically. Upward mobility is limited, many levels of bosses above you in an entry level.

    Advice to Management

When providing feedback, practice what you preach and try to give direct feedback to your employees. Don't have other people do it for you and try not to dwell on the insignificant things that really don't affect the job.

I worked at Berkadia full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Company seems to be moving in the write direction under the direction of senior management. Good work life balance. Good future

      Cons

Still not as good to work for when it was owned by GM. There has been a lot of termoil over the last 8 years with layoffs and the company being sold by GM. The corporate headquarters is a dump with leaking ceilings, bugs, and small bathrooms that stink.

I have been working at Berkadia full-time

      Pros

Nice place to work (work prospective), work life balance is given priority. The culture is good. Has four different shift timings 8 AM-5 PM, 3 PM - 12 PM, 6 PM to 3 AM and 10 PM to 7 AM

      Cons

Nice place to work if there is no partiality. Very biased at some point of time. They give value to those whom they like a lot.

      Advice to Management

Be as transparent as you can and value those employees who are very loyal and working hard and got recognition, please give promotions to those kind of people not to those whom you like.
