I have been working at BerlinRosen full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - no matter what team you're on, there is a variety of clients & work with purpose - clear growth path and leaders who are willing to help you achieve your goals - constant growth of each division of the organization - amazing benefits and in-office perks - very diverse organization - a very collaborative organization and opportunity for exposure to various industries and clients/work

    Cons

    - most are industry related but there are busy periods and its a fast-paced environment so do not apply if this is a problem

    Advice to Management

    - keep clear transparency on where the organization is heading

    I worked at BerlinRosen

    Pros

Modern office setting, good snacks, coworkers from interesting backgrounds

    Cons

Overworked and empty promises of a full time job after the internship program Intern managers are hit and miss some are very supportive mine was awful. Cliquey work culture. Your reputation is made very quickly and usually isn’t changed. The environment is set up so that everyone is competing against each other and nobody would have any problems to be backstabbing you.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the interns and respect their feedback so the program is better off going forward. Stop falsely promising jobs and setting the bar high only to stonewall interns and give confusing advice on job openings towards the end of the program.

    I worked at BerlinRosen full-time

    Pros

Make money, elect progressive-ish candidates, good snack room

    Cons

A lot of cliques and backstabbing that is referred to as "a competitive environment" There is zero direction given from senior staff-- aside from mansplaining the most basic principles of any given topic. One of those places that seems like a great place but is a nightmare about 10 mins after orientation ends.

    Advice to Management

Nothing. You guys seem to be doing awesome--walls are freshly painted with new "happy" colors and bonus checks are deposited in time for holidays. Keep up the good work. ADVICE TO POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES: Look elsewhere. It's not worth it unless you are already comfy in life and just want a change of scenery.

I have been working at BerlinRosen full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

The team culture, across all practices, is great. I've worked in a few agencies in NYC and none come close to the tight-knit community at BerlinRosen. Additionally, the firm is working to expand its practice areas and reach across the country, which is encouraging to see.

    Cons

Like any agency, the work-life balance is not for everyone, but doing well can open up many doors.

It is a fast-paced environment. Sometimes that can be intense.

I have been working at BerlinRosen full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

You get to work with amazing clients who are truly making an impact on US politics and social justice. Employees are the smartest in the game and truly passionate about the issues they serve. Benefits are good. Free health/dental/vision. Matching 401K.

    Cons

Senior management is a disaster. Terrible senior hiring decisons and bad HR. Very very low pay for the amount of hours and responsibilities you are given. Employees are not well compensated for their hard work and promotions usually come too little too late. Turnover is very high and there is little room for growth. Little to no personal development and high anxiety/stress.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees. Pay them more. Promote them when they have earned it not just when you feel like it or have your back against a wall. Value their development and be more transparent. Create better work life balance and office culture. Increase diversity. There’s so much good in this firm and it’s a shame that so much is being lost because of bad leadership.

    I worked at BerlinRosen

    Pros

Learned some foundational skills about PR (media monitoring, list building, social media)

    Cons

Culture wasn't the best and the work often got boring.

I worked at BerlinRosen full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Influences progressive social change on a local and national level. Exposes you to a roster of clients from Fight for 15 to the MacArthur Foundation and groups focused on gun reform.

    Cons

Poor/no management; promotion path murky at best; extremely little diversity at senior levels of staff percentage wise; inexcusable for any firm who claims they value diversity and has headquarters in NYC. Senior staff is not invested in ensuring less experienced staff gets most out of time at BR (or their personal success in any true way), backstabbing office culture with low morale. And be prepared to be overworked...

    Advice to Management

I have been working at BerlinRosen full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is really an extraordinary place to work -- it's got a strong company culture, brilliant people, and a progressive work portfolio you can really get behind. Management is very responsive and there is ample room for professional growth. This is the kind of place you want to build a career in public affairs.

    Cons

BR has been expanding rapidly and sometimes you can tell the staff levels haven't caught up with the expanding work load.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your employees and hire the people you need to match the amount of new business.

I have been working at BerlinRosen full-time

    Pros

BerlinRosen is committed to excellence. The quality of the work is truly at the top of the industry, and your colleagues are knowledgable and talented to match. I work with some very smart folks doing excellent work- many of whom have come from high-profile campaigns. The work itself and the client base are progressive good guys and, for the most part, I feel proud of the people I've gotten to work with and for. If you...

    Cons

It is not consistently or constantly intense, but there are often busy periods. If you can't handle pressure at times, this is not for you. I have always found it strange that our campaigns advocate for paid sick leave, yet we do not have dedicated sick time. Block leave for junior staff is fine, but it could definitely be more generous, especially given the hours we often work.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your staff. It really helps!
