I have been working at Bert Fish Medical Center as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The nurses are great and easy to get along with. The environment is also welcoming with a lot of smiles. The CNAs are awesome at what they do, very hands on, and know how to treat not only the patients, but nurses as well. It is a well grounded group of people who truly care about their patients and coworkers.

    Cons

Some of the staff have an attitude. If they don't feel you, they will judge you right off the bat in a subtle sense with gestures and third person.

    Advice to Management

Treat all staff with respect. No one is perfect, not even you. Lessen patient load by adding more nurses and be proactive in meeting the staffing needs. Step into our shoes and see what it's like at least for a day, to stop judging our strengths and being considerate to human kind.

    Pros

The staff is great. They are very helpful to eachother. There are not many cliques. It is a true small town hospital. If you show respect and do your job, respect is given.

    Cons

There are a lot of traveler nurses and few staff nurses which makes it harder to form bonds. The nurse to patient ratio can be daunting at times. With the new merger with Florida hospital things are a little confusing at times.

    Advice to Management

As with any business the all mighty dollar is the bottom line. Try to reduce the the patient load or have the aids take on a few charting tasks such as vitals, baths, and blood sugars. This would lighten the load for the nurses quite a bit, or bring on an extra nurse per shift. This would do wonders for the morale and also give the ability for the aids to continue to assist the patients and not have to chart. Possibly making more nurses want to stay on staff.

    Pros

People are great, doctors are good

    Cons

Executive Management don't care about what is going on with patient care- the ratios are terrible

    Advice to Management

NEVER see executives round on floors to check on patients or staff- get out of your office and out of meetings to check on the people that pay your salary

I worked at Bert Fish Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

My fellow employees were great, my supervisor was amazing and I enjoyed my work. Benefits were good.

    Cons

Change in management was a problem,. No communication with the higher-ups and then it was mostly "smoke and mirrors". I spent 20 years at this hospital and the last 5 were full of promises but no results from management.

    Advice to Management

The higher ups need to realize that its the "little people" who generate the cash, pay them well, treat them well and tell the truth at all costs

    Pros

Enjoyed the work and the majority of co workers.

    Cons

Bosses treat some people special and some people not special. You have to kiss up to get "fair". Get in a clique fast or it'll be harder for you. ZERO work/life balance. None. They don't care if you pass out during your shift. And don't try to call management out on lies, even if you have emails as proof, or go to HR. HR doesn't give a flying you know what about you, because they're friends with management.

    Advice to Management

Don't ask your employees to do anything you wouldn't do, don't let anyone play games for holidays off.
