    Pros

The mission. You see the difference the organization makes to so many.

    Cons

The attitudes of upper management. There is a disconnect between what upper management wants and how they think it can be achieved by the people who work in the programs with actual people.

    Advice to Management

When you hire someone for upper management, please do your background research. Make sure the person you are hiring is someone you would want to work for.

    Pros

    Mission, buddies, volunteers, activities, logo

    Cons

Poor leadership, high turnover, HR, staff, inconsistent treatment of staff

    Advice to Management

Look at the top. If the top isn't willing to change, then the turnover will continue. People with limited experience in education and teaching tell educators what to do. It's a poor model.

I have been working at Best Buddies International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The mission of this organization is great! Everyone is extremely passionate about carrying out the mission and makes the work environment extremely encouraging. Networking opportunities within and outside of the organization is great. You will have plenty of fun events to attend and interact with a variety of people. This job definitely gives you the opportunity to challenge and push yourself to learn and grow personally and professionally. Considering that it is a fairly young organization, it has been growing rapidly and it makes your job fun and interesting. It's not your typical 9-5 "do the same thing over and over, day after day," kind of job and keeps it exciting. There is room for growth and allows you to be creative and flexible. The organization also really cares about the staff and you will get staff appreciation time off.

    Cons

medical and 401k benefits are what you would expect from a nonprofit, but it's not the worst.

    Pros

    Positive, Amazing, Inspiring and Uplifting.

    Cons

No cons at all. This organization is amazing.

    Advice to Management

No advice besides that the organization is amazing to work for. I have been here for only a month, and there is nothing but excitement and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Getting to go home everyday with a smile on my face, knowing that I am helping individuals with IDD to find the jobs, is the best feeling in the world.

I have been working at Best Buddies International full-time

    Pros

If you work hard and show your worth, you will be rewarded. Upper management stands behind people that produce results and allows room for personal growth and development into new positions within the company based on an individual's particular skill set.

Other perks include the ability to work from home (depending on your position and your ability to exceed work expectations remotely), very generous amounts of paid time off, and a really good group of mostly positive co-workers.

    Cons

Starting pay is low, but competitive for a non-profit. If you are not a motivated self-starter, you might find it difficult to get ahead as there are limited positions for entry level staff to rise up to.
