I have been working at Best Buy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits (corporate amenities, health benefits) The CEO (Hubert) is a strong leader Well known brand The employees are largely personable

    Cons

IT is largely outsourced (though it's getting better) Many business teams build their own IT independent of any processes Processes are set in place but there are no reprocussions if they are not followed Most of the company operates on Access databases or excel and are unwilling to stay up with current technologies No data governance Many leaders are disconnected from the work being performed Limited incentive for IT talent to work for Best Buy

I have been working at Best Buy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Best Buy's environment is ROWE (Results Only Work Environment) so you get your work done, then go home. That could be in 40 hours or 32 hours a week...you could come in at 10am and leave at 4pm - just as long as you're getting your work done and people get what they need from you. Great flexible schedule, smart people, and great campus.

    Cons

There are many contractors - so a lot of knowledge and history walk out the door when a project is completed. Many of the system's Best Buy uses are dated and need improvement. There is a lack of on-boarding here as well for new employees.

I worked at Best Buy for more than 3 years

    Pros

Always changing, dynamic teams, company has a "young spirit" even though they are a corporate giant.

    Cons

There are a lot of hours put in to planning and talking about planning. Meetings are plentiful. The Holiday seasons are always tough because you have to remember you are working for a retail giant and they have to be at 100% from a few weeks before Thanksgiving until the New Year.
