I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Get to work with a bunch of new tech.
-Help people out solve everyday problems.
-Management is chill (for the most part).

    Cons

    -Pay is low.
-Some managers can get power trippy.

    Advice to Management

Be nice to your employees, just because they work for you doesn't make them less of a person!

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Everyone is friendly and will help you with any questions you have.
-Checkout is kept considerably tidy with how many people are back there everyday.
-Employee discounts on open boxes and snacks that you may want for lunch are awesome!
-If you’re a good employee managers WILL take note of it, I’ve been approached by 2 managers for a position after seasonal. You can move up really fast if you are a fast learner and are dedicated to being a good employee.

    Cons

-Since I started the week before Thanksgiving I wasn’t taught all the ropes so I’m still catching up because of it.
-As a seasonal you won’t be able to call out so I’ve been sick twice since I got here and had to push through my shifts.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you guys are doing, every manager in the store makes me feel welcomed and appreciated.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benfits both for part time and full time, lots of accommodations, career focus goals, non commission as well. Plus, rewarding monthly and quarter meeting and recognition.

    Cons

Being in computers, you have some of the highest goals in the store, based on hour sales which ranges between $800-1300 an hour depending on the season. It's also retail work, and holiday time tends to be rough, blacked out dates from late November, to January.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is plenty of room for growth and the firm is great on employee development.

    Cons

The health benefits could get better, and sometimes it's a bit overwhelming with so many KPIs

    Advice to Management

Streamline the KPI, there are too many categories which causes the employee s to feel overwhelmed and wanting to leave.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount is awesome - only 5% above their cost. It makes you appreciate how much they gouge their customers after buying an hdmi cable that sells for $50 for just $6.50.

    Cons

Constant unnecessary and repetitive monthly elearning trainings. Unrealistic hourly sales goals. Supervisors constantly harass you in your earpiece to force people to sign up for credit cards or geek squad warranties or in home consultation or annual subscriptions. And if you don't fulfill their quotas, you're forced to come in at 8am on Sunday for more 'trainings' on how to force these things down customers throats.

    Advice to Management

Management doesn't want to hear my advice, but my advice to perspective employees is to enjoy it while you can. It's kind of fun at first and the discount is great, but there is no real future unless you want to become someone who mindless bleats about credit card apps and rev goals and tech support and blah blah blah to people who dont care.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the pros are working with cool technology, energetic people, the day goes by fast, meeting new people, etc. This is a decent job for college students, retirees that need something to do, or people who are otherwise desperate.

    Cons

Low pay, poor and inconsistent scheduling, excessive pressure to sell for a non-commission job, drug abuse among employees and managers. Half-hour lunch. Poor training.

    Advice to Management

Management seems pretty ok but a few people seem as if they're on drugs, probably speed. Ensure that people are properly trained on the register and know basic things about their departments. If you're going to do drugs before work, try to at least make it look like you're sober.

    Pros

Flexible hours to work around your schedule.

    Cons

Over expirations for sales when there is a lack of customers.

Think like a customer not like a boss
