I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic benefits and discounts, the two stores I've worked at have been incredibly accommodating when it comes to scheduling and time off, not to mention the 3 weeks of PTO a year i already get

    Cons

Its a huge corporation, they expect you to hit these goals and push the hell out of the credit card, and they have "lines" to say and a sales guide to follow.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee discount was great, and the lack of commissioned sales made it lower stress. However, having worked in two different locations, the culture was very different, where one was laid back, and the other high octane.

Vendors give you all sorts of freebies, and there are various contests hosted by companies like Intel, AMD, Microsoft, etc. I have won several free high end computers, computer peripherals, and other accessories from contests and vendor promotions.

If you are working in sales, there is not that much job mobility, which is why many people prefer to move into mobile phone sales or Geek Squad, the latter of which certainly has better pay.

    Cons

Pressure to sell insurance, credit card apps, and other targets
Bonuses are store based, and generally out of reach for the market
Culture can vary significantly by store

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great experience in management both during and after college. Manager worked around my schedule whenever needed. Solid company Benefits with a big corporation. Worked closely with my General Manager and District Manager

    Cons

Limited growth opportunity within my last role. No clear career advancement path.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on your employees that are dedicated and wanting to grow. I have seen a bunch of former colleagues advance since my departure though so it sounds like this has been a focus and I hope this trend continues.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are good for a big box store, pay is above minimum wage [Texas], discount is great if you have outside income to spend, or have been saving up.

    Cons

Indifferent managers[could simply be my location], corporate demanding more and more despite you giving your all is demoralizing to say the least. Pay, despite not being bad, isnt enough to survive in Austin.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people, and they will take care of you. Continue leaving them out to dry, and you will keep this very aggressive turnover rate. And by god, don't claim you promote from within if you exclusively do the opposite.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, bonus pay, PTO for vacation and sick days, time and a half pay on holidays, fantastic insurance 401k and stock options.

    Cons

Minimum of 40 hours a week. Everything else here is fantastic but it would also depend on location. Certain employees lack work ethic but it's up to you to do your job so it hasn't cause me any issues.

    Advice to Management
