I worked at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

There is a Competitive pay scale bonus opportunities and clear goals. Plus you get an amazing discount on basically everything

    Cons

It could be kind of a boys club and the goals weren't always attainable even if they were always clear. Black Friday was the devil

    Advice to Management

Be aware of the company culture at the ground level

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work before store hours in Merchandising. Meet new people. Great if your in school. Flexible schedules when you're PT.

    Cons

Poor management, PT hours around approx 15 hrs/ wk (give or take 3 hrs), don't expect a raise from your review even if you work hard, always there and on time. They don't care and it seems always over look the pro's and positive stuff in every situation and only care about negatives. (But that's my location so elsewhere may be different).

    Advice to Management

Give recognition and encouragement to your employees. Be someone they can feel they can work with under any situation. Also, keep up with monthly one on ones!

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gives you the ability to become well versed in multiple sections of the store due to the array of questions that are asked on a day-to-day basis. Being the primary point of contact when someone calls into the store, you get asked all kinds of questions.

    Cons

Management is disorganized, some stores have a new look and feel and some don't, signage is incorrect, supervisors do not take responsibility at times when an escalation has occured.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate yourself and your store against the top 10 stores and see where the improvements can be made. It will mostly come with the individuals personal dedication and pride in what they are doing.

    Pros

Great Benefits, Insider Technology info from various vendors, Employee discounts

    Cons

Recruitment system sucks, promotion from within sucks, not the best entry level position.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Follow the guidelines setout before you from corporate. strive to have stricter uniformity throughout all of the stores. this will be the key to lasting success.
