    Pros

Coworkers were great and made it fun to come to work. The discount is tough to beat. Everything there is normally very over priced.

    Cons

Management is very unprofessional and problematic. They have had many HR complaints against them. They are the reason I, and many others left.

    Advice to Management

    Take a few leadership courses.

    Pros

You work with great people. Perfect opportunity to learn in college. Help set up and foster a love for technology and products overall.

    Cons

The wages are horrible and corporate doesn't really think about the employees. Worked there and college, part time with almost full time hours and still struggled.

    Advice to Management

    Visit the stores more often.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The discount, when we had it, was pretty excellent. The hours were flexible. The pay was comparable to slightly higher than other retail jobs.

    Cons

The corporate structure was constantly in flux, every year they would try new things with none of it ever actually having any impact on the day to day or bottom line. Management expected you to treat it like a commissioned sales job when you were making just above minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Find something you think will work and stick it out for a while. One year or less is not nearly enough time to see if a corporate strategy is going to pan out in the long run and constantly changing things up just makes your employees feel disgruntled and detached from the job.

    Pros

Exelent employee discount thats all good

    Cons

They force you to make the customers apply for the best buy credit card and if you dont meet the goals of 5 credit aplications per day you have chance to lose your job.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really fun, interesting place to work. I routinely received a lot of hours, started at a very reasonable hourly rate, and had great management that set clear goals and objectives. I also received extensive training on every product we offered.

    Cons

The sales figures management focuses on the most are fueled by the sale of overpriced cables and accessories. It was very hard to push overpriced DVI, HDMI cables, and iPad cases knowing that you can easily find them online for much, much less.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to push overpriced cables and accessories on people and focus more on providing excellent customer service. My customers came back to buy from me because they trusted me, because I didn't try to sell them stuff they didn't need. If you can cultivate that level of trust with all your associates you'll start seeing more returns than you currently are.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of employee incentives. Ok, employee discount. Management very willing to work with you on scheduling, pay, time - off. etc. Competitive hours. Big opportunities to move up within the company.

    Cons

Younger immature employees. Kinda feels like high school sometimes. Huge recent employee cut backs, pay cuts, restructure etc. Lower pay, more work.

    Advice to Management

Utilize Path to Excellence better, as Management issue themselves numerous path to excellence certs just before an employee purchase, oh and a huge GM manual discount on top of that. I thought P2E was more for base level employees? Rather than just a perk for Management to use whenever they want?
