I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best Buy is by far one of the best companies to work for. Great pay, great discount, amazing benefits for part time and full time employees. Best Buy really cares about their employees and wants them to excel.

    Cons

Every store is different. Management needs to stop favoring certain employees. Favoritism is strong in certain Best Buy stores. They threaten to fire someone who calls off 3 times in 1 month due to being sick. But another associate can call off twice a week for 2 months straight with no accountability.

    Advice to Management

Management should not show favoritism towards employees and treat everyone the same.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great environment to work in - employees are laid back and emphasize having fun while working. Employee discount is great.

    Cons

Being pushed to meet sales goals that are sometimes unrealistic. Did not like being pressured to sell warranties and credit cards that customers did not need.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are great, good employee discount, and the staff/coworkers are almost always amazing.

    Cons

Management is out of sorts at this location. Not every department is treated the same or even acknowledged by higher ups. Favoritism is big at this location. I can’t speak for Best Buy as a whole but Orland Park needs some work.

    Advice to Management

Treat your team with respect. Tons of favoritism going on which is just insulting to workers in multiple departments. Management needs to learn how to be managers and keep personal lives/issues out of work. I’m not heartless and I understand bad days, but days shouldn’t turn into weeks, and weeks shouldn’t turn into months. Get it together.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Really care about workers
    - Good compensation for the area
    - Chains of command
    - Flexible, especially for students

    Cons

    - Stores vary by management
    - Some management do not listen to advice and cut lines of communication
    - Some favoritism/nepotism in my area management, across several stores
    - Training for management not always required, leaving employees more knowledgeable than an area manager in some cases

    Advice to Management

    - Require updated training for managers and refresh every year or so, as things change
    - Be more open to feedback all year round

    Pros

The co-workers make the job fun. Discounts on products and latest technology are also a plus.

    Cons

Managers tend to be goal-hungry and usually always put stress on the employee’s backs because of it.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are the most amazing people you’ll ever meet. The job is fun, fast paced and loaded. The pay is good and you have constant opportunities to learn and move up.

    Cons

One manager ruined my entire experience. I had to put in an HR report against her. And I was one report of 22, yet she’s still not only working for Best Buy, but absolutely no repercussions have happened.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they let you know there is a manipulative and mentally abusive manager.
