    Pros

It was my first job and I've been there for man than 2 years, great caring management , constantly learning about new technology, cross training available , decent benefits

    Cons

You can't really move up in the company there aren't that many positions . Pay could be a little more competitive ESPECIALLY for the employees that have been thrrr a while

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, all your co-workers are usually awesome and very helpful. Great employee discount on SOME products. Fun technology. Usually very flexible with scheduling and hours.

    Cons

MANAGERS!!! I worked at 3 stores and at every locations managers were awful. They micro-manage and constantly focus on what you do wrong instead of what you are good at. Some managers were fine but if you are considering working for a store, go to the employees in the department you are likely applying for and get their feedback. I guarantee they will be honest... and probably dislike their managers.

    Advice to Management

Stop setting unrealistic expectations just so you can pick some tiny thing you saw us doing a month ago to blame for not reaching those expectations. Your turn over rate is in the mid 70's percent, if you want to keep talent, learn to recognize it.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good overall culture. Training is there if you want to take advantage of it. Benefits/discounts are good, especially for a part time college job.

    Cons

Can be clique between departments. Make sure you know your schedule, the online app barely works.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your department leads. They really understand what is going on within the store and their departments.

    Pros

    Excellent staff and training programs.

    Cons

    Pay below a living wage.

    Advice to Management

Bringing pay up to a living wage, at least for supervisory and above positions, will produce loyalty and longevity in employees.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They tried and succeed in getting your schedule the way you wanted it, upper management didn't seem like upper management, they were very kind and were like your friend. Very fun atmosphere.

    Cons

My position doesn't get many breaks if any at all. The smokers got many breaks and the non smokers didn't get breaks very often. You are a glorified door greeter that wears bright yellow.

    Advice to Management

Should have more than 1 asset protection employee working everyday, or overlapping shifts.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of hours! Pay was above average, training available for nearlyall products to truly make you an expert. Awesome discount!

    Cons

Too many e learnings for the amount of time given to take them. Big gap between the culture that is "preached" and what is "praticed". Supervisor not properly trained for leadership.

    Advice to Management

Bridge the gap between what you preach and what is practiced.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people of Best Buy are a unique breed. Their diversity makes the job so much fun. Customer issues are a blast to deal with because it really challenges you to be your best and utilize your interpersonal and vocational skills. They also pay for my college!

    Cons

Pay is low and new hires are always making more base hourly pay than me. I think this is common and not unique to Best Buy's hiring strategy.

    Advice to Management

Focus on building your employees instead of berating them to achieve higher sales targets. People work best when they enjoy working for somebody.
