I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is pretty outstanding compared to other Best Buys.

    Cons

No sell or die mentality. If you don't perform you should be let go rather than f-ing off all day and being paid to do so.

If you don't hate the human race; you will after working retail.

    Advice to Management

Be more competitive or we'll lose against Amazon.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits were good as far as dental and health plans. And the employee discount was decent, although it changes every few years.

    Cons

They under pay line level employees, and work them to the bone. Especially around holidays, working 6-7 days a week. They abuse managers, having them work ungodly hours, every holiday, and no support from territorial staff. Always changing their core of beliefs. Nothing consistent.

    Pros

    Flexible Hours
    Fun Environment
    Great Co Workers
    Paid Trainings

    Cons

    No Mobility
    Bad Turnover
    Retail Customers
    Horrible Pay

    Advice to Management

If you have ever been to one of the top store in company, you will know the level of service that we can achieve. Employees are trained extremely well and the overall environment is one of growth and understanding. Store that succed are well paid, and the managers are flexible. Happy employees are effective ones. Keep changing with the times and continue to empower low level employees.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are fantastic, discount is great. It is a great job for college students and helped me get the experience for my current job.

    Cons

Micromanagement. Most of the employees are making a spit above minimum wage. Most customers prefer an organic experience rather than a cookie cutter sales pitch.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees, even when numbers are down. Helicopter supervising makes your junior associates nervous and perturbs your more seasoned vets

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Friends and having a good time

    Cons

Leaders hate their jobs because of all the restructuring in operating models and unubtainable goals for a company in a death spiral. Highly political and inconsistent from top down. No more growth potential, the company is dying. When I started my 7 year tenure there were 15 leadership positions in my store, now there is 6. Alost everyone I have known have either left on their own or been layed off. Oh, the pay is not comparable to the industry and this also makes the culture more hostile.

    Advice to Management

Hubert wants to cut everything. Im sure many more stores will be closing in the next few years.
