I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pays ok for a job with no degree. Discount isn’t bad but is disappearing on a lot of products.

    Cons

Good luck using any of the 160hrs of PTO given to you.

There are places that will pay a LOT more with no degree.
Best Buy compares their pay to other retail stores like Walmart, Target and so on. They don’t compare the pay the the job your actually performing like Cellular sales at which point the pay is pretty poor compared to corporate and third party resellers.

The company will actively lie and deceive it’s employees to abtian a goal. The employees really are nothing but a means to an end the management.

Most who move up in the company have no interest but in themselves.

Most employees come in hating their job and the place has nothing but a negative attitude.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Best Buy was flexible while I was in school, and the discount was great! I had the opportunity to learn about all the departments, and there were several professional development opportunities.

    Cons

The pay was laughable for a management position. My raise from customer service to hiring manager was 75 cents/hour which was after negotiating. And then I'd regularly be asked to hire salesmen who were making more money than me (in my experience, men were paid much more). Also, most employees were focused more on flirting and avoiding customers than doing actual work.

    Advice to Management

Be fair about compensating the talent you hire, and actually manage your employees. Show interest in their career growth, not their love lives.

    Pros

Teamwork, close group of people willing to work together, fun culture, entry level starting job to gain experience while still going to school.

    Pros

Management is pretty outstanding compared to other Best Buys.

    Cons

No sell or die mentality. If you don't perform you should be let go rather than f-ing off all day and being paid to do so.

If you don't hate the human race; you will after working retail.

    Advice to Management

Be more competitive or we'll lose against Amazon.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits were good as far as dental and health plans. And the employee discount was decent, although it changes every few years.

    Cons

They under pay line level employees, and work them to the bone. Especially around holidays, working 6-7 days a week. They abuse managers, having them work ungodly hours, every holiday, and no support from territorial staff. Always changing their core of beliefs. Nothing consistent.
