I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One of the few retailers that is successfully staying afloat against amazon. Phenomenal discounts. Company culture is positive

    Cons

Depending on your region, the mid level management is terrible. My store in particular pushed out their most talented people through immature management techniques.

    Advice to Management

Hire better General Managers who you can trust will help you get buy in from your employees instead of crushing them with a elitist mentality.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Honestly, I made some great friends, and I had some seriously awesome bosses. The box truly rocks at times. I may have had my frustrations, but when I look back, I am grateful for all the lessons learned. I am a better salesman, boss, and person because of my time at the Buy.

    Cons

Low pay, even as a supervisor. One time, in order to prepare the store for Black Friday, I worked 24 straight hours (I was paid for 8). I was appreciated, for sure, but not financially. I could barely afford to live in the same city as my store.

And as for advancement past the store level? You better know the CEO personally.

    Advice to Management

Focus on training and employee engagement. Better employees make better salespersons.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employee discount, company itself isn't horrible

    Cons

The store I worked at was awful. Favoritism was the only way you could advance in this store.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together and higher leadership that knows what they're doing.

I worked at Best Buy (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company's vision is great, very competitive.

    Cons

Lack of customer service, doesn't meet needs of customers, and they make us out to have to be selfish salespeople. Employees try everything they can to stay up in sales, but they fail to understand you can't have high sales expectations with small traffic. Rude managers is another issue, they lack respect and RESPONSIBILITY! How can customers respect employees more than they can managers? By the way, don't hire seasonal people, then offer them a permanent position... then FIRE THEM! That's a low blow. Horrible.

    Advice to Management

Converse with employees, know who you hire before you just jump to do so. Stop showing favoritism, employees already have to kiss your butts. Please put customers first. Thanks.
