I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Safe environment, great culture, in detail meetings, transparency between worker and area manager.

    Cons

Lack of staffingto save on budget, low hours outside of peak season

    Advice to Management

Take the time to go out and talk to employees about any concerns they may or may not have. Don't wait for an employee to come to you for it might be too late to explain any miscommunications.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Company culture is excellent
Training, you always have the tools you'll need
    Discounts
    401K matching

    Cons

Sales positions are measured using way too many metrics
They'll tout discounts as part of why your pay is so low
No commission just bonuses, uses a complicated formula that gives managers thousands and part time employees considerably less

    Advice to Management

Continue to foster the excellent culture, turn around probably wouldn't be so high if you paid more than minimum wage to the majority of your in-store workers.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Long lunches and breaks, fun coworkers, happy customers, you are trained well, team bonuses, employee discount

    Cons

New GM of store. Cares about sales but not about people individually, which is a change in culture from what this store used to be. Big-box & good ol’ boy mentality now shining through a store that used to pride itself in what it invests in employees.

    Advice to Management

You won’t keep quality people with your management style currently, because more employees are now unhappy and feel under appreciated than I’ve ever seen before at this store. Quality employees will leave and tell others not to work here, and high turnover = dropping sales. It’s myopic. Build the type of environment this company is SUPPOSED to stand for. “Have fun while being the best”. All the fun has been sucked out.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Support & Direct communication with management

    Cons

You have to be more aggressive on sales, since you have a high target as many other computer associates but you only get credit for the sales on the Microsoft/Windows side & accessories, no Chromebooks, Amazon tableta or apple products

    Advice to Management

Make sure to support your current Microsoft Expert in store as it’s not fair for the expert to be weighted as everyone else & he’s sales are not as many
