I worked at Best Buy Canada full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good place to work if you're in school and looking to get some weekend money. If you pay attention you can learn a lot about tech. The staff is young.

    Cons

Compensation is terrible for how hard you are expected to work. There is no financial gain for performing well. Once you move up in the ranks the politics become insane and you plateau very quickly.

I worked at Best Buy Canada part-time

    Pros

Best Buy stores are typically very welcoming environments made up of mostly part-timers. They offer a lot of on-the-job training in customer service skills and inventory management skills that benefit a lot of professionals later on in their careers. The company itself appreciates employees and offers a number of benefits from education programs to child-care programs.

    Cons

Like other big-box stores, working at Best Buy can feel like you're just a number in a large corporation at times, and the requirements to meet certain sales quotas can feel pressuring to some.

    Advice to Management

Try to streamline the training process and make sure that they're always up-to-date on the latest products.

    Pros

Leadership development was a consistent focus. Processes and content for professional learning was always relevant and updating. Using internal leaders and coaches and mentors ensures culture remains true.

    Cons

Political atmosphere from senior leadership blinded the brand to opportunity and opinion at times. Merchant opinion was typically over leveraged in contrast to learning from the operational divisions.

    Pros

A great management team makes all the difference in the store. They are your only support. District won't be much help.

    Cons

To much pressure to sell warranties and geek. Everyone is expendable if you can't sell them all the time. Not customer focused. Warranty focused.
