I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent hourly wage compared to other companies I have worked for under loss prevention. The staff all got along great and all of the managers were happy to be there. The training was very good as well.

    Cons

Loss prevention can be better with rules and regulations. Very limited in what they can do to prevent people from stealing.

    Advice to Management

Allow loss prevention to move around instead of being stationary

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, employee purchase program, great vacation, benifits, and a company that truly values their employees.

    Cons

Retail hours, Stock Purchase program needs a face lift, and new employees get the same amount of vacation as a tenured employee

    Advice to Management

Set a more structured interview process, interviewers need to go through a "How to interview program" remember they are the face of the company to potiential employees. I would have HR do final interviews with top internal and external candidates to guarentee a fair and unbaised interview process has been done.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great training and had good employees. Met some great people while working there.

    Cons

Very poor pay scale and not a great place to work if you'd actually like to climb the ladder. Like being stuck in mud and very poor bonus compensation.

    Advice to Management

Bump up the pay scale and bonuses to those who deal with the public every day on the front lines not just the pencil pushers who have never been out there.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee Discount. Family oriented team. Low-pressure sales environment. And that's all I have to say about that.

    Cons

Non-Commission. Outside hiring over promoting within. Promises of promotion but never stay true to their word.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your friends and keep your word to gain a sense of trust from your team. To many associates spreading hours thin.

    Pros

Best Buy is a great place to work, management really cares about their employees. There is even a group at the store dedicated to improve moral and provide a fun work environment.

    Cons

It is still retail, it is just not a career for everyone. Overall it is a good place to work though.

    Advice to Management

Overall Best Buy is a good employer and I have been with the company for years. I would recommend it.
