I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Latest technology, appliances, electronics equipment, accessories are available to the public. Employees are trained with online video program. Best Buy is always finding ways to stay competitive and adapt its policies and business model to help employees provide great customer service and back up for products.

    Cons

Employee turnover is high due to the transient nature of the business and the various career objectives of Best Buy employees. Sometimes the unhappy employees negatively influence those who are trying to do a good job.

    Advice to Management

No politics, be more selective in the right people.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company values are great and the discount is amazing. Each interaction has the possibility to be amazing and if done right, many networking opportunities. Great place to build some of the best customer service habits, if taken seriously.

    Cons

Leadership can make the job more difficult than it really is. It is only professional relations between superiors and lower level employees, while things are going well. Management (from my experience) is way too emotional to run a superb working environment, which in result, makes for a productive team due to low morale within the store. Also working on Thanksgiving day is a waste of time. Not enough people come in to warrant the store being open.

    Advice to Management

Retail is stressful, and everyone in that building knows that along with you. Leave your bad day at the door, bring positive energy and the store (sales, morale, turnover rate) will benefit.

    Pros

can see and test the latest electronics and games. meet some cool people. chicks dig gadget knowledge. can buy stuff with no problems and no waiting.

    Cons

trying to push warranties and other crap products onto people who really do not need them. Really, what is the point of the magazines? we are an electronics store, not a bookstore. Stupid management always trying to screw the customers. The extended warranty is a joke and no one in their right mind should ever buy them. complete rip-off

    Advice to Management

Quit focusing on magazines and warranties, they just irritate the workers and the customers.
