I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

With SWAT Specialist, I was pretty much left alone to do my job. I would listen to music on my phone while I counted and entered the cycle counts into the computer.

    Cons

Having to find the items that got lost in paperwork. They were "there" but not physically there in the store but still have to be accounted for in the paperwork.

I worked at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good discount on some things
    Vendor accommodations are sometimes amazing
Non-commission so less pressure to close every sale
Great place to work as occasional/seasonal for the discount

    Cons

    It's retail
Upper level management is oftentimes out of touch
Takes many many years to move up from sales to leadership

    Advice to Management

Ask employees for suggestions, don't just have a kneejerk reaction to everything your district manager says. Some stores have no idea what they're doing, while others are ideal stores (my store). Don't make my store do something because some other store isn't up to snuff.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, Monthly bonuses, supportive management, 401k, full medical benefits, tuition assistance. Excellent place to work if you are just looking for a part time job with great benefits or a full time job that you can grow into a impactful career.

    Cons

Fast paced retail, understand your role or face the consequences. Understanding that you are here to help customers find the best solution based on their needs will be needed if you want to fully enjoy your experience.

    Advice to Management

Continue developing from inside and growing the business.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Probably the most fun you could have in a job with sales and technology. Great culture and atmosphere. Full time benefits are pretty good including tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Leads especially in small stores are severely under paid. We are basically managers/supervisors for the store with no pay to show for it. Just based on the experiences I've had it requires a lot of daily attention, even off the clock to be a top performing store and the leads carry a lot of that weight. The company will hype the bonus structure to help maintain decent morale but anyone that does research on similar positions or responsibilities will see that the pay is really non-competitive.

    Advice to Management

Eventually you will have to pay expert salaries to maintain expert performers.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly atmosphere not to much drama going on for the most part...Great employee discounts!!! Most customers are great! The teammates are the best part! Awesome Job Security

    Cons

This job is for people who are either young adults or under 18..NOT ALOT of full time positions mostly part time..if you just want 8-25hrs a week this would be perfect for u..Wouldn't suggest it for a career unless your GM..hard to get full time you have to kill someone or wait for them to leave to get that spot in your department

    Advice to Management

Ask corporate to open more full time slots. With a billion dollar company that sells expensive electronics there should be alot of full time positions. That's all just need more Ft and it could maybe be an adult career
