I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Work environment
    Discount
    Starts off with reasonable pay

    Cons

    Lots of sales pressure
Some managers expect you to but best buy before other things like school
    Working on holidays

    Advice to Management

Inclement weather, sickness (w/ doctors notes), and transportation issues aren't excusable absences. I was a part time worker and got fired for those reasons and that is unethical and unreasonable. The company just cares about monetary gain and its sad. I'd recommend a reasonable attendance policy.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Employee Discount
-Good deals on certain accessories gives you a good idea of the general retail markup and savings combat it.

    Cons

    Poor Compensation
    - Not compensated well enough for the expectations they have. Even managerial positions are compensated poorly.

    Poor Management
    - Not very "mature/effective" management skills

    Draining Environment
    - A lot of stress is put on associates while managers generally just bark orders even if they're not likely to happen

    Disappointing Savings
    - Accessory savings are decent but forget about buying any hardware at a desirable price. And with your compensation

    Job Security
    - it's easy to retain this job if your not a dynamic thinker, however if you're not robotic or don't desire to be they will treat you like pawns; putting you on the frontline and dismiss you when necessary

    Advice to Management

Spend a few weeks on the floor and with the base salary and see for yourself what would need to be changed.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Surrounded by the latest electronics!

    Cons

Discount only on accessories, expect employees to work as if they were on commission.

    Advice to Management

Change your business strategy or you will follow the path of circuit city.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work in a popular retail store, be around technology, possibly work with cool people with similar interests, decent benefits if you are full time. Fun activities every so often, but I guess that depends on your specific location.

    Cons

Low paying, mass disorganization.. Depends on what store and area you work in. Not enough emphasis on initial and continued training, to project a more confident and knowledgeable overall impression created by sales associates.

    Advice to Management

Care about your job and about the products. Educate employees not just on products but on positive sales behaviors that don't project either a vulture-y or a disinterested attitude.
