I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great, friendly environment with lots of opportunities to make an enjoyable career out of electronics retail. Having fun and enjoying your job while being the best.

    Cons

Management in stores is inconsistent. Some supervisory staff performed extremely well and cared for their employees while others took the title but did not do the job. Some management do not have respect or loyalty for their loyal associates.

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation for diligence and hard work provided for the company given by associates.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The management at this store is fantastic, you need to be honest with them and they will work with you, within reason.

    Cons

A small group of employees have a negative outlook that can be a downer. No issues beyond that. This is a great store.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Best Buy has flexible scheduling and is employee discount is great. Playing with the new gadgets and learning what all they can do before they even come out is great.

    Cons

Customer ignorance is a problem. A lot of people refuse to learn about technology and it can be quite frustrating. Management tends to micromanage and it can get old hearing about the numbers.

    Advice to Management

Don't focus so much on the numbers. Focus on the positive actions and the numbers will come. No one will learn from hearing about how good/bad their numbers are on a daily basis. They will learn from upper-management giving them solutions to their issues on the sales floor.

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved the Team, the excitement and all the new tech.

    Cons

Don't get used to much as it is a fluid market. Brick and Mortar is struggling

    Advice to Management

Give associates a chance to move up within their stores

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly management, very willing to create a schedule around your needs.
Pay is good if you're experienced and/or have an education.

    Cons

Mandatory e-learning is long and tedious.
Hands-on training, at least in the warehouse, does not exist. I came in on my first day of actual work (after a few days of e-learning) and was basically told to "sink or swim". Most employees in my warehouse complain that the first few weeks are frustrating and difficult because no one tells them how to properly do their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Hands on training for inventory/merch employees is a must. Reading dry, 30 page PDFs for two days is not proper training.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The managers will go out of their way to train you, if you're stuck on something they will walk you through it. For the mobile department they actually have a four day training seminar.

    Cons

    Like any retail enviornment, holidays.

    Advice to Management

All managers were great to work with!
