I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They treat employees very fairly. Recommendations go a long way and speaking upfront about what kind of hourly wage you're wanting to make can go a long way as well.

    Cons

It is a place that focuses on seasonal employment, so there is risk involved getting hired around that time period.

    Pros

Position was straight forward with very small learning curve. Great extra money job while in school.

    Cons

Manager often acted immature and acted like a playground bully. Wouldn't offer constructive criticism but rather put you down and acted like you were incompetent.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Discount, flexible shifts, friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Favoritism. Does not matter about past experience.
Pressure to sell warranties with threat of being fired if you don't sell enough.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to form your own kingdom within the company by putting your favorites first. Put the interest of the company first.

Advice to senior management: The current business structure of Best Buy is unsustainable. Please re-examine the way Best Buy does business.

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed job. Do what you are supposed to do and you won't get micro managed.

    Cons

Retail position that requires nights and weekends. Sometimes customers can be rather rude

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at Best Buy for two years in Customer Service and there are good benefits and discounts. Great team of people to work with, very energetic and lively

    Cons

The pay is OK, but not enough for what you have to deal with. In my experience the managers will ask you to do things WAY out of your pay grade but will only give you a raise once a year (and that raise ends up being 0.20-0.90 cents depending on your performance). The customers that have ZERO clue about electronics are the ridiculously demanding ones so it gets irritating.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees better

    Cons

I also work with some very terrible people that management knows about and yet nothing is done.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team and support them accordingly.
