I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Great company. Strong CEO. They focus on profitability, which is easy to coach.

    Cons

Poor staffing at my location has lead to more stress than anything. Not enough leaders.

    Advice to Management

Focus on bringing back more managers to share the weight on each store.

  2. "The culture is good and the pay is great. It is retail, and unless you’re a “people person”, it may not be for you."

    Pros

Great work environment. The company cares about employees’ benefits and work environment. My team is great and well trained for their roles.

    Cons

It’s retail so there is little control over the customer base, how they behave or treat you personally in store.

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, laid back work environment, nothing very technical required.

    Cons

Retail job, so retail hours and retail customers are part of it.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Employee discount is amazing
    Friendly co-workers
    flexible hours

    Cons

holiday season is a bit hectic but that is true for all retail businesses

    Advice to Management

Despite not making any sales, the inventory department is just as vital as any of the other departments. Make sure inventory employees are happy as well.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My supervisor did a good job managing the team, and often accommodated my schedule as a full-time student. The merchandising crews are often down to earth individuals and fun to be around. If you're in college, and want to reserve your cognitive skills for your academic endeavors, then I'd recommend working in this position.

    Cons

As a Merchandising Specialist, it is very labor intensive, especially as the holidays approach. You will be expected to stay late in order to stock all the merchandise on the floor or in the back warehouse.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly Co-workers, flexible scheduling, great discount and benefits.

    Cons

Terrible management, contradictory mandates, awful hands on training/role playing.

    Advice to Management

Stop making people take e-learnings, they are useless and time consuming. Give individual employees a bonus structure, don't make it dependent on the department or store as a whole.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You learn a ton about different products and you learn how to listen to customers’ needs and recommend a solution for them.

    Cons

Customers can be difficult and demanding, management is usually never helpful. Training is mostly over how to sell and not the products themselves, so be ready to learn on the fly.
