I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great discount on some items, decent pay (above minimum wage), minimal experience needed, some of the work is fun, up to date on most new technology.

    Cons

Semi-Strict Managers and Supervisors, constantly pushing Best Buy credit cards, Geek Squad insurance, and not allowed to sit or be on your phone, or even (with one of my supervisors) have water on the sales floor.

    Advice to Management

Let workers be on their phones, especially when it's dead, also, let them sit,

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent. Lots of stores to choose from. Advancement opportunities. Clear management structure. You know what is expected of you at work.

    Cons

Popularity game, both in the store and at the district level. If you have a high work ethic, you'll go nowhere. Employees do unethical things all the time to just get their "numbers". I refused to play along.

    Pros

Great Discount, great people, fun and challenging.

    Cons

    Long hours reflective of workload.

    Advice to Management

Managers not proficient in warehouse operation systems which creates scenarios where the lack of knowledge inhibits their ability to know what logically can be done.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great discount, gives you unique mobile sales work experience, higher pay and bonus as a mobile sales lead

    Cons

Store culture is all based off of management, if you have one rotten manager it could ruin the whole job. Pays less then most mobile sales jobs.

    Advice to Management

Everyone needs to get on the same page.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They treat you as if you have a brain in your head, and you are able to learn much about the current trends in technology.

    Cons

Less flexible schedules than other job markets such as food service, however there is an assumed degree of responsibility and maturity in this field.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees. Get them thinking, and asking questions. Be there for them, and let them know that you are, without being overbearing.
