    Advice to Management

    Treat employees better

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Bonus potential is pretty good. Once you get above line-level the pay isn't too bad. The discount is pretty appealing to most people.

    Cons

Lots is demanded of you for what you are being paid. The company goes through irrelevant changes so often it will give you a headache.

    Advice to Management

Pay the employees more, or don't expect as much of them. Honestly the cashiers could go to another store and make $4/5 more an hour and have the exact same responsibilities.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Lots of room to grow
    Great people to work with

    Cons

It's a game of politics in the sense of wanting to advance in the company

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People tend to be pretty laid back.
Leadership is great at department level.
Raises based on quarterly or annual reviews.
    Discount is fantastic.

Some of the people in leadership positions are wonderful and know what they're doing, and they are willing to help you expand your skills. Others, not so much.

Excluding a select few, everyone seems to be very friendly and open here. It does become like a second family since most people, even part timers, seem to be at work more than anywhere else. Which could merit a good or bad thing based on preference.

It seems like a great foot-in-the-door opportunity, giving you a decent amount of knowledge and experience working in a retail position.

    Cons

    Pitiful Life/Work balance.
    Leadership can be somewhat rude.
    Questionable pay and compensation.
Training could definitely be worked upon.
Too pushy with services and credit cards.
    Brutal attendance policy.

It seems that you're supposed to come in the door with the ability to hit a specific number day one, and when you don't, instead of being lead in the right direction it seems that you're shunned and expected to make up for it without being given a different approach or being properly guided.

Having to balance work and school with this job can be nearly impossible if you don't make it abundantly clear what you can do. Even with multiple requests to have hours for a part time position reduced to under 30 weekly, (Average for part time for me has been 35-40, which I find completely obscene considering I don't get compensation for working what I believe is legally full time) I have yet to see it drop to a reasonable number.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexibility in scheduling wasnt bad.

    Cons

Flexibility in scheduling was caused by lack of hours available. Low pay, no benefits.

    Advice to Management

    More consistent hours. Don't over-hire.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are many pros to working at this company very well organized company, they train you very well also, good people to work with, very team oriented, the discounts!

    Cons

Must be a people person. Need to be good at selling (persuading, perception, etc.). Even though pay is NON-commission, the pay could be a little better.

    Advice to Management

None, keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Management is mostly friendly
    -Laid back work environment
    -Employee discount is pretty good

    Cons

-Pointless sales goals since there is no commission

    Advice to Management

Stop making employees push credit card applications and protection plans so hard on customers. Yes they are pure profit for the store, but the customers really get annoyed with it after awhile and will just resort to going elsewhere.

  10. "Good work experience, not somewhere I'd want to further my career."

    Pros

Being able to assist people who look for it, being up to date on the latest technology, providing solutions for the customers best experience possible.

    Cons

Forced to push credit cards, discount has pretty much been abandoned, being scolded when nobody wants to spend money during this recession.

    Advice to Management

Blaming sales associates for the company's revenue problems is not the answer, it just makes management look like most retail management teams, which is not a good thing for the morale of the store.
