I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The managers are very flexible on availability, great for a full-time college student. They also made transferring to another location for the summer easy.

    Cons

Not any that I can think of.

    Pros

Great discount and rewarding experiences for contributing to the environment and employees around you during work. Great place to see technology

    Cons

Terrible customers. Stupid customers. Non understanding customers who refuse to treat you like a human being. Terrible pay and even worse management. Not a great system.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so terrible at everything you do. Stop underpaying employees to achieve higher profits. There are reasons that the turnover rate is by far the highest in the industry.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Once you make friends, it's the only reason why you stay. Working with people as a team makes all the difference.

    Cons

People can sometimes be "clique-y" and create lots of drama.. Every store has it. Also, you realize how much people don't care if they are rude to you or not.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people were pretty cool to work with. The managers were down to earth although they still strived for results. Working around all the latest technology was a blast!

    Cons

Poor pay and the retail grind finally got to be too much for me to handle. Not much chance for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees more so that they feel valued. I didn't really feel valued. I felt that Best Buy didn't care if I quit or not because they could just find a replacement.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Store discount is best in the field. That's about it.

    Cons

Low pay. Huge responsibilities expected of a part time employee. People working 12-18hrs a week should not be responsible for driving a metric in a store.

Predatory lending. We were forced to try and sell a credit card with every purchase. I had real ethical problems with this.

    Advice to Management

Please value your staff. Look to Costco for a example of how increased pay leads to less turnover and better employees.

Allow more freedom to high performers

    Pros

It's fun and having Geek Squad on my resume has won me more interviews than anything else.

    Cons

It can be pretty busy and always understaffed, which is annoying.

    Advice to Management

    Don't play favorites
