I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, management very involved with each employees progress, and it is easy to move up in the company.

    Cons

The pay isn't the best if you're working part time but full time it's enough to make ends meet. Other than that I have no complaints

    Advice to Management

    make the return policy longer

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent corporate structure, Management is usually very good

    Cons

Pay, hours, and benefits. This is a job, period.

    Advice to Management

    Stay current.

    Pros

None. This has been the worst experience that I have had working in a retail store. I would not recommend working here.

    Cons

The most minimal training possible: The only training I received was through E-learning's and basic merchandise techniques.
Completely disorganized: This was the worst backroom I ever stepped in. There also was not a system set up to look for specific items in the backroom. The backstock had to looked for around the store.
Anti-social managers: The managers barely barely spoke. When they did, they looked off in the distance like there was no one standing in front of them. They also believed that should not have to train anyone since, "everyone should already know what they are doing".

    Advice to Management

Please train the associates you hire. We want to be able to do our job and stand around looking like a bunch of idiots. There is a reason that only three people showed up out of the 12 you hired , for orientation.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ability to work at your own pace. Work with different computers and other gadgets.

    Cons

Breaks don't really exist. The store manager never wanted to be bothered. Not much support from management.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are few pros to this job unless you like to chew on your nails every 6 months or so waiting to see if you still have a job or if you'll get a pink slip. Pros: discount, pay, employees inside of the building

    Cons

Company restructure every time you turn around. Never know when you'll get a pink slip. Most stores have lost 2 salaried managers in the past 2 years. There is No work life balance...unless you like to be away from your family all of the time.

    Advice to Management

Don't dictate to the GMs what schedules AMs must work. Quit re-structuring every 6 mos to 1 year.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The company discount. Flexible schedule in a way.

    Cons

Change of policy made it to where employees are forced to be available for 3 of the 4 weekend shifts. Pretty much all of my night and weekends went into working there.

    Little room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to reward employees who go above and beyond their responsibilities and correct those who do not perform. All too often I saw people just collecting a pay check not motivated or wiling to commit to helping the customer.
