I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Schedule flexibility, pay, tuition reimbursement, employee discount, and culture.

    Cons

The only con for me is that there isn't any commission from sales!

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to start for if you need a part time job through high school or college.

Experience in sales and customer service will transfer over to a ton of other careers and opportunities.

    Company discounts are nice.

    Cons

Some stores tend to micro manage and the position can get repetitive or boring if you do not find ways to stay busy.

    Advice to Management

Encourage employees to have fun while teaching them skills they can use in their future positions

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good co workers
if you enjoy interacting with people selling can be quiet rewarding
    Competitive pay for experience

    Cons

They DO have "commission" it's a bonus if your store does well based off total sales. This is why sales associates are asked to keep track of sales. It's a shady distinction.

If you don't sell their unrealistic goals of 800-1000 per hour they start to schedule you less

Part timers exist to fill the gaps between times when full timers can work

    Advice to Management

Change your structure. Don't pry on the ignorance of customers so you can sell them an overpriced "solution"

    Pros

    Positive environment
    Feeling of Contribution
Know where you stand amongst your peers

    Cons

Hard to believe in the product
The internet kind of makes your job obsolete.

    Advice to Management

I'd say the best advice to management is to realize that customers are more knowaledgable as ever and the experience is the only thing this company is making off of now.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people. On the whole, the people at my store are a joy to work with. Insight into new technology as it becomes available to consumers. Vendor accommodations are also nice. Having worked here, I also feel like I've become a more informed consumer when I am purchasing products.

    Cons

Reliance on Learning lounge in order to train employees is a poor decision on Best Buy's part, as there should be hands on training that happens in store. Excessive micromanaging in my store has led to a "Do as I say, not as I do" culture which in turn has led to decreased employee engagement. Low recognition for hardworking employees and blatant favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees with respect and stop micromanaging as it only serves to work against employee engagement.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

fun, lots of opportunities to win free stuff or get at a hugely discounted rate, many people that share a common passion work there, great management, challenging, okay pay if youre in high school. LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK YOUR WAY UP THE LADDER. extreme job flexibility and availability room

    Cons

Low pay compared to other sales positions, consider it a stepping stone to get into higher level sales jobs, (car sales, furniture, cell phone sales, insurance) All other sales jobs involve a lot more pay. Other than that, not too much to complain about.
