I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fun work environment, great team building, discount perks, flexible hours, great employee benefits packages including 401k and stock purchasing options

    Cons

Work hours are skewed and inconsistent- one week you will have 4-5 solid shifts and then next, maybe one or two short ones , unrealistic sales goals at times - mainly focused on credit card applications,

    Advice to Management

Focus sales goals on competitive pricing, products and services

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall, this is a great job. Great co workers, great environment and they do give you the tools to learn more. The Employee discounts are really good in my opinion. I really love my job, and being able to help people and best buy definitely is a great place to do such.

    Cons

The fact that they want you to do so much and not give commission. They say they don't give employees commission because they don't want you to over sell the customer on what they need, but still make strive for high numbers, and always upsell the customer.

    Advice to Management

    Stop living in lala land

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun people to work with, Discounts, potential for Bonus, flexible scheduling.

    Cons

Management doesn't care for their employees, you are just a number, management screws you in any way you let them get away with (last second scheduling changes, low raises if any, they'll try keep your pay low even when they should and can afford to give you more, use you to do something not in your job description, etc) you have to interview for promotions even when offered.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company was fun to work for, lots of opportunities to win products through online training. Not a commission based sales job.

    Cons

lost sight of employee satisfaction, need better health, dental and vision insurance for full time employees

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount, which amounts to 5% above cost. The company values look great on paper, but it's up to management to actually follow them. Monthly bonuses based off sales targets, have seen them as low as 50 and as high as 500 in my store.

    Cons

Horrible work life balance as a full time associate. Always understaffed. Sales leads and Supervisor level employees are incompetent. Blatant favoritism. Too much Micro-management.

    Advice to Management

Encourage GM's/ASM's to hire better Sales Leads and Supervisors.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to start out, training is so-so but you do learn alot on the fly. Decent benefits package.

    Cons

Low pay caps, Retail hours,Little respect from management. Employees are over-worked and underpaid. Little to no training is offered unless you take it on your own.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they're worth, you get what you pay for, cheap labor = employees who will not care about the customer or the job, they'll show up when they want and act how they want.
Pay your best what they are worth, so much money is made that could be invested back in the employee so the customer truly gets a good experience, not a half-hearted sales pitch. Make them feel like they're worth it, and they'll give you all they've got and more.
