I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great discount on some items, decent pay (above minimum wage), minimal experience needed, some of the work is fun, up to date on most new technology.

    Cons

Semi-Strict Managers and Supervisors, constantly pushing Best Buy credit cards, Geek Squad insurance, and not allowed to sit or be on your phone, or even (with one of my supervisors) have water on the sales floor.

    Advice to Management

Let workers be on their phones, especially when it's dead, also, let them sit,

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Accomodations and knowledge resources for continuing education

    Cons

Highly differentiated management store by store

    Advice to Management

Watch time sheets to build up part timers looking for full time. Don't sit back on less motivated full timers

I worked at Best Buy as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company was very good with its hours, and the staff there were all very friendly. Customers want things now, but thats cool. I enjoyed my time there.

    Cons

Nothing really bad. The customers complained when something was out of stock because of Black Friday, but everything was great (for the most part)

    Advice to Management

No advise from me. I enjoyed my time there, was treated with respect, and the entire staff was very friendly. They were great all around.

    Pros

Competitive pay, starting above minimum wage. Opportunity for advancement, with clear paths to work towards.

    Cons

Cannot think of any cons. I worked at Best Buy for 4 years and looking back at it I can't think of any negative things that came directly from the business.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work environment. Plenty of upward movement opportunity. Many bonus opportunity, and awards given throughout the year. Nice benefits, and good amount of vacation days, you increase days with longevity.

    Cons

A bit of politics within upper management. Having to work on some major holidays. Retail schedule varys with position, no set hours for management.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, discount, benefits, good company

    Cons

TERRIBLE management at some locations, constantly called in every other day, worked 6 days a week and only got 25 hours.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The opportunities here definitely are door openers for you if you're a student or working without a degree. The people you meet could be your friends for life.

    Cons

Sometimes the pay doesn't exactly translate over for the amount of work expected of you. The chain of command is entirely too long. The hours rise and fall as the holidays do.

    Advice to Management

Micromanaging has been the biggest issue for the past 3 years that I can see. Try dealing with customer issues head on. Pay your hourly employees! They are the real bread winners! I have much more advice for management.

I worked at Best Buy (More than 8 years)

    Pros

friendly people, has a form of training. Some of the supervisors are amazing, but has some amazing setbacks. Very sad.

    Cons

Managers don't care about anything but revenue. Customers are horrible, the training is nonexistent after your in position. They have 'values' but its never good enough. They are constantly restructuring which leads to people getting ousted from positions all the time. They laid off all the daytime project team members this may. Seriously this company is going down.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your employees are people, and people do make mistakes.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Crazy AWESOME employee discount, fun, caring coworkers and management. Learn vital skills and business practices to launch your career to the next level. The skills they teach and enrich you with can be used to grow a career in or outside Best Buy.

    Cons

Decent performance sometimes involves managing too many metrics. At times, may have too many targets or objectives to meet.

    Advice to Management

Continue specializing task assignment to help effeciency and instill pride. Continue promoting sales and line-level employees, I love our new CEO Hubert Joly. Bonus structure was brilliant
