I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company is great to work for. I was with Circuit City for 7 years before their demise and I thought there couldn't be a better company. Well there is, and I'm so glad to be here. Starting at the top Hubert Jolly, the CEO is a "class act". He is genuinely interested in his EE's and he is guiding this company through so really good times right now. He and his corporate staff are excellent stewards of the companies' money and not building and spending money like "drunken sailors", ala Circuit City. BBY treats all of their GM's as well as they treat their employees and everything is transparent. No hidden agendas and the District Managers are very positive in their interactions with us GM's and the EE's. Benefits and pay are excellent, and the work hours are great for a retail job. I have no complaints about the company and I plan on being here for a long time. Good thing is if I screw up, they'll tell me and there would never be any quick "firings" without just cause. Really allows all of us to sleep better at night, knowing how well the upper management is running this company.

    Cons

We are heading into the busiest time of the year. The pace is very fast and the customers can get unreasonable at times. This is retail and you should expect this. You have to keep your cool and slow down when explaining policies to customers and trying to accommodate them. People who don't have the personality to handle these customers interactions, won't like this job.

    Advice to Management

Keep your ultra positive attitude. The diversity at the top levels is refreshing to see.

    Cons

The worst thing I can state about Best Buy, is not about the company, but as in Retail the hours are not always ideal. Best Buy works on work/life balance and optimizes your schedule well

    Pros

Pay is good, with good benefits and Solid leadership. Great products to work with and new technology coming out all the time.

    Cons

Retail is difficult. Customers can be very upset over things you can't do anything about. Working with such cool stuff makes it hard to not spend your whole paycheck back in the store.
