I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, fun place to work, discount is amazing. People you work with will be your best friends/new family.

    Cons

Pay isn't all that great for the workload. Managers hire more employees than they need to staff so you end up not getting many hours. Also the company is going under.

    Advice to Management

Shouldn't focus on just one person in the team. Everyone is doing the same amount of work yet the like to be buddy buddy with one or two people.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount, working with shiny new tech, good co-workers, they try to keep it fun, non-commissioned sales, good training resources

    Cons

Can't utilize discount when you have low pay, can be overly demanding at times with little reward or recognition for efforts, sometimes its hard to get a full time position, people stick SD cards in Mac optical drives

    Advice to Management

Management at my store was great. Everyone just needs to be on the same page and support each other.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun people
    Working with technology
    Employee discount
    Opportunities to advance

    Cons

    Retail hours
    Management sucks
    Pay
    Working with annoying customers

    Advice to Management

Start paying more to the employees who actually sell the product and make money for the company rather than paying management and corporate management so much

Current Employee - Geek Squad, Agent (CIA) in Glendale, AZ
Current Employee - Geek Squad, Agent (CIA) in Glendale, AZ
    Recommends
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    Relatively easygoing environment
Decent pay for the work done
    Learn lots of things
    Employee discount
Well respected by everyone (they assume you are a genius because of the tie)
People will believe anything you tell them once you hit the salesfloor (again, the tie)

    Cons

    Workload can be stressful
Policies are strict and don't forgive when you slip up
Can be difficult to sell services that are so expensive
People typically come in frustrated and angry because they have a computer problem

    Advice to Management

Respect your in-store techs because they make up for a large margin of profit that the rest of the store does not. Incentive would be nice as well, and an excellent reason to be more confident in selling a $200 virus removal service.
