I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Outstanding benefits, culture, coworkers, and managers.

    Cons

Unrealistic goals placed on sales. Undue pressure resulting from these unrealistic goals.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good employee discount, discounted stocks, 2 weeks paid time off, and 401k for part time.

    Cons

Management can be toxic. Massive focus on pushing credit cards. Limited hours as part time.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and train them more than demand results.

I have been working at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is pretty good and depending on your store, you can have some awesome managers.

    Cons

No benefits for PT. They "update" their systems but make them worse or not work at all. Also treat their employees like they're on commission but do not pay them enough to actually work as hard as they want their employees to.

  4. "Great Company For Which To Work, but not my store...Incompetent GM"

    Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits!! Employee discount of 5% above cost on most items! Employee Accomodations supplied by Vendors for even greater deals! Company philosophies and values make it a fantastic place to work!

    Cons

My GM doesn't believe in fairness, is prejudiced, throws whomever it takes under the bus to save his butt, and considers work as talking on his cell phone, taking "conference calls", and playing on his laptop most of the day, everyday.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your line level associates in reviewing the work of your managers. Actually spend some time with the AMs to evaluate GM performance. Listening and then taking action is key to employee viewpoint improvement, job satisfaction, and turnover reduction.
