I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Helped pay for my education and provided healthcare. Great for high school and college students. Great team/family culture.

    Cons

Considering that it is a premium retail big box store, with very high end products and a lot of training involved, it is hard to make a full time career after a certain point. The pay (for full time, let alone a specialty) does not match the amount of work that can be involved.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best reason to work at Best Buy is helping customers enhance their lives through the latest technology.

    Cons

If you are not under the right management, you may feel like you are stuck in your position.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and they will take care of your company. Treat them like I do not matter and what they think doesn't affect your business and you will be proven wrong. I have seen first-hand how a general manager can turn the atmosphere of an entire District around. To drive Improvement and to decrease turnover rate. I'm talking over 30 internal promotions in less than 2 years, and one of the best work families I've ever been a part of.

    Cons

    Management sucks
Promote/demoted all depends on how close you are will manager or gm
    Number (sales) doesn't matter

    Advice to Management

Management need to focus on individuals who are willing to work and need to promote who is doing great what they should do

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stay up to date with technology. Employee discounts.

    Cons

Terrible pay. Purposely give you just under full time hours so they don't have to provide benefits. Unethical selling of services to customers expected.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees enough to pay them a living wage. Stop making employees force services and credit cards down every customers throat.

I worked at Best Buy (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people you get to work with at Best Buy are incredible. It was an excellent experience and I made some excellent connections during my time there.

    Cons

The training is not the best. Most of the training is done in front of a computer where you watch numerous videos explaining the details of a product that customers are not interested in. In my case, I had an excellent sales manager who understood that and helped me anytime I had questions about a product or a sales technique they used.

    Advice to Management

a shadow system is a better training tool than sitting employees down in front of a computer. It helps them get a better feel for how the company works and proper sales techniques.

    Advice to Management

Give part time employees better health benefits and insurance

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere. Lots of training. Usually plenty of contests and recognition.

    Cons

Low pay like most retail sales position. Only bonus as a group, no individual bonuses, so a bad team could mean no extra earnings other than hourly.

    Advice to Management

Keep it fun and make sure people know the selling points of their products.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great development if you work with your leaders on it.

    Inside and outside training available.

    Really care about their employees.

Some of the best benefits in the industry from healthcare to financial advisors to family planning.

Corporate is very hands on in developing the company in a great way based on customer service.

    Holiday pay is great.

Non commissioned in most sales positions but great bonuses if you hit goals.

    Cons

Every store runs quite a bit differently, management per store really controls how the store feels and operates.

PTO when first becoming full time is unbearable low.

    Advice to Management

Employees need a way to better understand how they are impacting he company and that what they are doing is actually helping the company progress. Employees seem to lose motivation due to not understanding the growth of the company.
