I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great development if you work with your leaders on it.

    Inside and outside training available.

    Really care about their employees.

Some of the best benefits in the industry from healthcare to financial advisors to family planning.

Corporate is very hands on in developing the company in a great way based on customer service.

    Holiday pay is great.

Non commissioned in most sales positions but great bonuses if you hit goals.

    Cons

Every store runs quite a bit differently, management per store really controls how the store feels and operates.

PTO when first becoming full time is unbearable low.

    Advice to Management

Employees need a way to better understand how they are impacting he company and that what they are doing is actually helping the company progress. Employees seem to lose motivation due to not understanding the growth of the company.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good management with great benefits. Fair pay and opportunity to bonus each month. Company also does a good job with training.

    Cons

It is hard to move up at Best Buy. There are limited management positions open and when they are open, there is numerous applicants from all over the area.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing a great job on taking care of the team. Recognition and support is something that I really admire at Best Buy

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Discount and that's pretty much it

    Cons

    Pretty poor leadership
    Insistence on meeting constant metrics
Track sales per hour and use it as a measure of performance
Team members develop rivalries over individual sales which creates an unhealthy competition between employees and makes time spent there even more miserable
E learnings will take days off your time and often times makes you no more knowledgeable than you already were

    Advice to Management

No more sales per hour metrics
Focus on teaching correct information to employees
Emphasize teamwork to help Garner sales
Remove the pretentious magnolia design center

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers, discount is amazing. You learn a lot of skills to use in almost any other job you get. people that work here love it

    Cons

Favortism is absolutely horrible here. People only seem to move up is they kiss up to managers enough. People that aren't qualified become leads. Half of the leads or managers just lie about something to seem like they have an answer when they have no idea.

    Advice to Management

Admit when you are wrong. Stop drinking the Best Buy koolaid and hire people with actual experience. Your employees do a lot for you, show respect to them, it's in your employee values to show integrity respect and humility, but we never get any.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Discount on Best Buy brand items.
    - Meet great people (coworkers and customers).
    - E-learning, on-the-floor training, and company meetings keep you up to date on changes in the company and store.
    - Was offered to stay on as full-time, but I turned it down due changes in Best Buy system and better opportunity elsewhere.

    Cons

    - It was tough to get hours an a seasonal, compared to full-time or even part-time employees, which is understandable
    - The store began to implement pushing credit card sales, almost to the point of neglecting overall customer experience.
    - The store set almost unrealistic daily quotas for revenue per hour and credit card sales. If you didn't hit either at the end of the month, you must attend the mandatory meeting for training. If you fail the next month, you're terminated.

    Advice to Management

I understand that numbers are important. However, negative reinforcement (termination, mandatory meetings) aren't the only way to increase revenue per hour and credit card sales. Also, maybe set more reasonable goals for a less stressful environment.
