I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, you get to learn a lot of new things and the people around you are pretty nice, at least the location i worked at was.

    Cons

A lot of the benefits they advertised while recruiting were for full timer's and best buy is stingy with offering full time positions. Management is not organized and is poor at listening.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There's a really good employee discount, especially on Best Buy brands and Geek Squad Protection. They offer a good start in training, including workshops, events, and things of the sort. There are a good variety of departments to work within, and it's possible to switch around if you don't feel the one you're in is right. They do offer health insurance, as well as future planning in life.

    Cons

I could honestly say a lot.
Best Buy's values generally fall around wanting the best out of their employees. This honestly doesn't happen though, resulting in a terrible turnover rate, combined with a million other factors. From what I've experienced, the management is where it really falls apart. They never genuinely follow up with how you're doing, where you're at, and how you can improve. There's never any recognition for doing well. At my store at least, the management is almost like a clique. Just as a clique follows, they do the same in terms of scheduling. I do get hours, but half of the time it's because they need to call me in since management didn't schedule enough people for the day. Management as well talk down a lot about customers. Yes, there will be times where there will be difficult customers, but right behind a customers back, I've seen and heard management talk story and belittle them.
When it comes to switching departments, it's near impossible. I've personally tried to switch to PC and it never happened. The department manager never followed up, and I was never informed of anything happening when it came to if I was switching or if there were things I could do to be able to switch. It is possible to move up, but there isn't much room to do so.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Don't create an environment where it feels uncomfortable to talk to your management. Don't schedule people based off who you like and dislike. Don't talk behind customers' backs.
Coming from a different position in management, this would never be the way I would want to lead a group of people.

    Pros

You can grow within the company. The benefits are really good as with 401k matching, employee stock purchasing, tuition reimbursement and employee discounts.

    Cons

Labor management is probably the biggest issue, to spread employees out so thin to cover the whole sales floor. Working thanksgiving day is also pretty bad, scale it back to Black Friday only.

    Advice to Management

    N/a
