    Pros

It use to be a good place to work but now they are micro managing everything. see comments below.

    Cons

They took our vans away from us. Make you work weekends. Split days off. No family time now. Started hiring kids to work at a cheaper rate per hour.

    Advice to Management

Go back to having every other weekend off and treat your employees like real people and not a number..

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fun to be surrounded by new tech daily. Hourly employees work hard and have great attitude. Employee discount was always nice.

    Cons

Very poor work life balance and support for salaried leaders. Told by District manager must work 6 or 7 days per week. When I explained was already doing that and it was on the schedule he receives each week was told "i dont have time to look at your schedule just make sure you work 7 days from now on." Poor upper mgmt structure leads to lots of misalignment. A district manager with a market staff that doesnt report to him just leads to much disalignment and conflicting messages. Each market staff leader only focused on their own discipline which often resulted in direction that conflicted with a different market leader and the DM message almost always different than marketstaff message. Led to lots of confusion and frustration with each other. Not a solid work structure for success. Low concern for employees from upper management . DM told me "you care about employees too much, BBY isnt like that anymore" Thats when i knew it was time to move on.

    Advice to Management

Return to focus on employees. Not just through corporate or RVP speeches but the actual actions of the market staff and District managers. D8 was once top district with great tenure however at least half GMs have quit under current DM who is not a people person. Set up a better support system by Market staff and DM alignment. Place upper mgmt leaders that care about employees not self promotion.

    Pros

Usually after getting past the drama at work, management tends to be flexible at times. As far as the store I worked at is concerned I find very little 'Pros' that I can list. The discount is alright, when you have money to utilize it.

    Cons

The few in my store who have served the company long term are disappointed by management who do not recognize job tenure, and skill sets. Unfortunately I never been more disappointed by a 'professional' environment. Young job candidates for Best Buy careers beware, the store is full of condescension on a daily basis. However, if you like for your intelligence to be insulted and your patience tried by the managers who are desperate for YOU to hold their store together; then by all means apply and prepare yourself for psychological ruin.

There is no ounce of appreciation for the unrealistic expectations you are expected to acquire.

    Advice to Management

Respect all your employees equally regardless of age.
3 years, no raise, 8 hour work weeks, and you expect employees to reciprocate? Hopefully they do just that.
I'll stop here, you'll be doing your self a favor to pass on Best Buy.

Network with tons of people, Friendly coworkers, evolving market, pretty fun place to be

    Cons

Poor management, terrible wages, rude customers, no chance for promotion, poor benefits, no commission, overall just a bad place to work

Please stop pushing your jobs onto your workers. We shouldn't be the ones cleaning and price checking while reorganizing the whole store as well as helping customers. It affects customer service greatly and you guys don't need that.
