I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good training, great discount on many products

    Cons

Pay cap for sales, if you don't want to be a manager you'll be stuck at the same rate

    Advice to Management

Realize that some people make great salesmen, but wouldn't make a great manager and you're losing those people thanks to pay caps

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get a bonus if you hit your notional margin goals.... thats rare but, you can make an half of what you made for the month that you hit your numbers.. ie.. you get payed $500 a month.. you can make $750.

    Cons

no raises except for yearly raise which equates to about a 5 cent raise .. and chances of getting promotions are very very very very slim..

    Pros

I loved the work I was doing installing car audio stuff. The pay was great and the work environment was very relaxed.....sometimes.

    Cons

The upper management would sometimes ask us to work on the sales floor if they didn't have coverage. They really never seemed to understand the nature of the work that we do. Sometimes the cars we were working on took a lot of focus and time. Regardless of how busy we were they would always pull someone out of the bay to play salesman in the store thus hurting our productivity and our numbers.

    Advice to Management

Spend a day or two when the install bay is really busy and see for yourself the attention to detail our work involves. Plus the more productive the install bay is the more revenue dollars the store will earn!!! Learn to push labor sales and the store will be profitable.
