I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Encouraging environment. If you wanted to move departments, ask that desired department's manager.
    Inventory scanning is solid.

    Cons

Palatalized stuff is usually haphazardly wrapped, especially when transferring product between the stores.
Price changes happen every day and product is shifted around weekly.
It's a pain to keep the prices always updated.

    Advice to Management

Automate the price tags without using people to do it (see target)

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Management in my store was great. Many great employees as well most likely due to good employee vetting. Company offers great benefits for retail. 401k match, lump sum vacation that builds quickly from year to year. Insurance was actually not bad. I didn’t appreciate how easy Best Buy’s intranet was to use. Employee systems are pretty streamlined and cool proof and easily accessible. The company actually made some drastic changes from when I first started and I found myself saying “how did we even manage before (insert new app or feature)”. The company actually tried to make our jobs easier and it worked.

    Cons

Typical in retail, wages aren’t that great but better than most stores you’d find near a Best Buy. Scheduling can be brutal if your manager or supervisor doesn’t care. Some management was condensed over the years and became stretched. Departments were appearing and disappearing quickly causing all kinds of supervisor conflicts and shuffling of employees. Inventory management is always improving but truck nights are always a disorganized mess. Distributions centers need to learn to presort and pack pallets.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the ease of use improvements like the new telxons, oms, and app improvements. Management needs to focus on their distribution and product handling and make it more efficient. Remodels are often handled by 3rd parties that would leave things half working. Bring back the Solar team because they actually cared.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great discount on most things. Pretty relaxed management . Coworkers feel like family.

    Cons

I've always felt like operations team gets shafted on pay for the amount of work they provide. So much micromanaging and rarely any recognition for the effort. Usually one worker doing the jobs of 2 or more.

    Advice to Management

Either provide more pay or provide more help, especially in the warehouse. More recognition for the tedious, hard work we provide.
