    Pros

Great culture with solid work ethics and core values. Will definitely help you learn from challenge and change and have fun while being the best !

    Cons

Huge company where decisions sometimes take forever to be executed or addressed.
Outdated legacy software that prevents the company from staying competitive.

    Advice to Management

My managers were amazing and i could only wish for them to continue doing the great work they're recognised for.

    Pros

Loved my department and peers! Everyone was always very friendly and very helpful. Competitive in a positive way.

    Cons

Not really a lot of room to be promoted within. People seemed to get picked for higher positions from out of the company.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Fun and upbeat environment that is promoted by management. Employee discounts are OK, but corporate reduced discounts due to employees abusing the system.

    Cons

Compensation is well below any form of living standard. Retail customers are not always looking for the "best deal" but what kind of free stuff they can get. Just like any service/hospitality job, you really get to see how terrible people can be. At $10/hr, it's kind of hard to deal with the crap people throw at you. There is no "quota" per se, but if you don't meet the department standards you get coached/lectured on how to improve your sales skills.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget your roots. If you started off on the sales floor, try to remember that your staff gets chewed up and spit out by customers all the time. The fact that the pay "cap" for sales associates is below $14 is completely unacceptable. Reward your team based on overall performance, not on individual. A sales team is only as good as its weakest sales person.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Got my feet wet in sales. Learned to make customers buy what they don't need. Improved my conversation/interpersonal skills. Great employee discount. Hourly pay.

    Cons

Applied for geek squad position. Was sent to computer sales. I was sent to the floor without training. I learned the hard way. Scheduling did not honor my time availability sometimes. They would schedule my work hours on my class days. It was up to me to switch swith someone else.

    Advice to Management

    Follow employee time availabities.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Great retail and sales experience
-Challenging sales goals and good training in salesmanship

    Cons

-Poor product and systems training (very challenging to set up complex orders for home theater systems without proper training.)
-Contrary to management claims, you need to research products in your own time.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on numbers and more on training, especially when it comes to products and services.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for while going to college. There were great advancement opportunities for those who worked hard. Amazing benefits such as health/401K/employee stock purchase plan, tuition reimbursement. It was a very fun job where I enjoyed the relationships that I made with employees and customers.

    Cons

Very numbers driven culture. The job was very stressful when numbers were down. The company had a "restructuring" every year where leadership positions were eliminated.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the employee-centric days of 2005 and I believe that customer and financial results will improve.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Health insurance is very cheap, 401k matching, employee discount at the store, accommodations (discounts) with lots of manufacturers and also wireless phone service providers.

    Cons

HR support is basic, call center for HR is out of the country, not enough individual recognition or team building events, no real culture.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the employee experience, and the customer experience will fall into place.
