I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is supportive and encourages thought on the job and growth as a person and a profession. 401k, benefits, PTO, sick leave, and good hours.

    Cons

Motivational style of some managers can be harsh.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts were really good on a lot of items.. Depending on your supervisor, they could work out a good schedule for you.

    Cons

Unless you are full time "which basically no one is" you only get between 5-20 hours a week... that's not enough to live on even with duel income.. You get barely above minimum wage if you are lucky.. I had over 10 years in retail and the kid hired a month after me was making $2 more an hour than me.... for his first job... Management does nothing when you call for them on the radio and will not have your back if a customer is being belligerent.

They also work out deals with friends and family, giving them huge discounts on items and not getting in trouble for it.. actually I take that back, the store manager got fired when he got caught at my store...

    Advice to Management

treat employees like people and think about better wages.. Also cut the fat and get rid of the management staff that basically does nothing all day.

    Pros

Great place to work, great atmosphere, non commission sales, great employee discount. Management is good about helping you move on in the company if desired. And hey, you get to play with cool stuff all day!

    Cons

Very very few cons come to mind. The only thing that really jumps out is the number of short shifts I get and irregular schedule. If that was fixed, I wouldn't be able to imagine a better way to get into sales. I'm going straight from buy to an account executive right out of college. My new employer cared more about my experience than my degree.

    Advice to Management

I really have any advice for management. I have to reach a 20 word minimum here, otherwise I would have nothing to say.

    Pros

    Flexible hours.
    Great people.
    Varying work load.

    Cons

    Workload can be very heavy.
The tech you use to do your job isn't always the best, despite this being Best Buy.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a lot of fun to work at Best Buy. Seeing televisions, electronics, gaming consoles every day is a lot of fun, interacting with customers and coming up with the complete solution for them is fun.

    Cons

VERY busy, understaffed, training nightmare (its been improved upon though as we speak).

    Advice to Management

Don't offer promotions to people who are quitting.
