I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunities. Fun to work in an environment with the latest technology. Company vision is on the right track. Overall a great job.

    Cons

Just the usual things you would expect from a typical job. Job attracts a young audience for your coworkers that are just there to make a buck. Nothing besides cliché norms.

    Advice to Management

Maybe ease up on the positive reinforcement. It's ok to let your employee know they screwed up without trying to sugarcoat it. Try to be consistent with your feedback.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast paced environment, sold the products I loved to use. Fun work environment with opportunities to improve. The company discount was one of the most amazing parts.

    Cons

Had to work long hours during the holidays. Had to work on thanksgiving day. The customer were at times less than friendly.

    Advice to Management

Listen to workers. The company discount rules were ridiculous. Favorites seemed to be picked throughout the store making it hard to move up.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount is good, lots of available perks and benefits and such.

    Cons

The whole saying "crap rolls down hill" has never been more true. Corporate makes terrible policies that are disconnected from the large percentage of staff who work in retail in locations. The amount of pressure to sell credit cards to people that didn't even need them began to feel unethical.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your bottom employees (I wasn't one, btw). The people who are in the trenches of retail every day will have a better understanding than the rich executives in Minneapolis.

    Pros

Good pay, good discount, fun environment. You can really make your job into whatever you want. You can either throw yourself into the job and learn a lot about all the products sold in the store and be a great associate or coast through and just get a paycheck.

    Cons

Early morning meetings are common but have some perks. Unless you work in one of the main departments you really don't get more recognition and can fly under the radar.

    Advice to Management

Continue doing what your doings. It is working wonderfully.
