I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great way to get to see the latest and greatest technology. Get to work with others with similar interest. Managment pushes you to do your best work without pressuring you too much. Discount can be really nice as well.

    Cons

I have no complaints besides only one yr=early performance to receive a raise.

    Advice to Management

My management was great and have no advice.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job is fairly laid back as far as responsibilities go for most of the year. Schedule is pretty flexible as far as accommodating a university schedule.

    Cons

Management can make or break your experience here. For the first year that I worked here, I had a fantastic manager who didn't treat his associates like commissioned salesman. Some managers just don't seem to understand that while this is a sales job, they treat it like the world will end if you don't meet your sales budgets.

    Advice to Management

If you want to obsess over sales numbers and only come out of the office to yell at your employees, then you should take some classes on how to be a manager.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee Discount is by far the best thing
    Lax environment
Melting pot of different troupes of coworkers
    Good full time benefits

    Cons

POLITICS (no room for growth unless buddy buddy with the right people)
    Inconsistent Expectations from management
    Mediocre pay
    Holidays are dreadful

    Advice to Management

They are doing the best they can. The only reason Best Buy sustained is because they cut costs. There is nothing they can do to improve without reallocating capital. Things they can improve is:
-Increase Salesfloor & Operations pay, with bi-yearly raises until cap
-Restore reasonable short term incentives, like P2E points. A $50-$100 monthly bonus (assuming budget is made) does not encourage one to go over and beyond for Best Buy.
-be more consistent with hiring COMPETENT candidates. Cut this affirmative action and political correctness nonsense. Customers can easily avoid Incompetency by shopping on Amazon. All it takes is ONE bad experience, and you lose a customer/client forever, thus losing market share.
-leave personal interests aside when making managerial decisions like promoting or aggressive training

In my honest opinion, without elderly people, there will be no Geek Squad. Without Apple, there will be no Best Buy. The only way Best Buy can survive in 10 years is they liquidate their assets and focusing on distributing premium brands and online sales.

As someone that has worked sales and operations, I have seen poor resource utilization. Joly bought 10 years with renew blue. After that Best Buy is finished.

I worked at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company, support college students and offer tuition assistance. The benefits are good as well

    Cons

Political nonsense at the store level is inevitable. I hated dealing with management. You don't get promoted unless your are the GM's buddy.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and I love the people! It is a fun environment to work in even in competitive environment.

    Cons

Some of the extensive training is repetitive or is given in an unhelpful manner.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees with respect and be fair to everyone. Too many times favoritism occurs and can affect some of the best employees going unseen.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts are great, Pay is not bad I was given $9 when I started and then to $10 in 2 months now at $10.30. Your co-workers mainly kept me staying at Best Buy nothing else. Pretty good job for a full time student and lots of toys you can look at for awhile I'm at a big store so there is more stuff to play with.

    Cons

Pay is good but it is also really weird especially around the holiday season. You get this thing called holiday pay and it automatically gives you overtime pay but even if u reach 40 hours that week it doesn't count any other hours u work that week so no over time pay other than the hours on the black Friday....

    Advice to Management

GSP is easier said than done... If it was so easy....Why isn't everyone able to do it? -_-

    Cons

    Advice to Management
