I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Tight family work environment, great discounts, a lot of room to advance. Yearly raises that reflect your work accurately.

    Cons

Benefits are not the best, and they do not offer paid parental leave in places where it isn't legally mandated.

    Advice to Management

Rich company could afford to offer better benefits.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many knowledgable people, and I was able to learn a lot about different technology that I otherwise wouldn't have had much exposure to (car audio, appliances, etc). I was offered a generous severance package when my department was eliminated.

    Cons

Management is often inefficient, lots of red tape

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The employee discount is excellent. Good but not great pay. Friendly environment to thrive in. Lots of things to learn about in store

    Cons

Favoritism in management, when district staff wants you gone they will find a way to make it happen, work life balance isn't great.

    Advice to Management

Be trustworthy. It's not a good look to openly lie to employees to get them to do what you want them to do

I have been working at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

Best buy provides a friendly and fun environment that allows you to really be yourself. There are several opportunities to grow within the company if you're dedicated to it.

    Cons

It can get overwhelming at times. Being a part time sales job, you are held to a much higher standard than other jobs. Specialty sales induction, constantly updated list of online product quizzes that are required to be completed.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, not much needs to be said. (For my current store at least) aside from managers contradicting each other almost daily, their great and always willing to try and help.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great place to bounce around and get good overall experience
    - Great employee discounts
    - The employees are friendly
    - Management is very easy to talk to and works closely with employees without micromanaging

    Cons

    - Not much recognition for employees that go above and beyond

Only one I can think of

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing your thing, Best Buy is hanging in there.

    Pros

    Customer Interaction Experience
    Flexible Scheduling
    Sales Experience with Technical Products
Authority to make deals with management approval
    Opportunity to gain a bonus

    Cons

High Pressure to Perform with little appreciation or recognition
Outdated Enterprise Systems are difficult to manage and too big to quickly navigate

    Advice to Management

Empower members of management to utilize new ideas in the workshops that are the individual stores. Give individual Salespeople easier to understand directions for improvement. Metrics are the least digestible pieces of information.

    Pros

Great People everyone will give you support and make sure you're taken care of. You also meet great customers and introduce into new technology

    Cons

You have to know the right people to advance. Opportunities come however you have to understand that the candidate has already been picked

    Advice to Management

Make sure you closely look at the candidates, inspire true competition with out repercussions employees should be able to reach out to any manager and get great counseling not them shutting down riding stars or feeling like you're not worthy.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good corporate employer that attracts younger, sharp and energetic associates making a very good work atmosphere. In my experience my co-workers made the work day tolerable and satisfying as we all faced and met challenges with a common goal. Like most jobs, you usually get out of a job what you put into it. Best Buy is a great opportunity and I recommend applying and following their path.

    Cons

Each store will vary with positions and opportunities with Part Time being the most abundant and at "fair" compensation. Also, supervisors and managers will vary, of course. In my experience they were all good to very good and kept my needs and interest in mind as well as the store needs which dictates what they are able to do or not.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your employees- they are your life blood.
