I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The older employees tell of a time it was a good place to work.

    Cons

It's a company on it's way out. Multiple CEO changes and diminishing sales have led to a lack of direction and upward mobility. The stores currently run on skeleton crews with too few hours and Best Buy's solution to competing with Amazon, involves turning pre-existing locations into shipping hubs without any modification or expansion.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very hard to get fired. Discounts can be decent if you look at your employee discounts daily (buy before the rest of the company does)

    Cons

30min lunch breaks, "by the books"-leaves no room for growth.

Ideas are irrelevant due to corporate over saruration.

    Advice to Management

"Lock it up" stress to much for $12per hr.-note to all team leaders

Managers- be open to take ideas seriously that other associates have. Just as your products are adapting so is business. (Therefore shouldn't the company and employees/ management be willing to adapt)

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company with tons of fun people to work with.

    Cons

Management can micromanage a lot which makes going to work unpleasant sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    Don't micromanage as much.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Tight family work environment, great discounts, a lot of room to advance. Yearly raises that reflect your work accurately.

    Cons

Benefits are not the best, and they do not offer paid parental leave in places where it isn't legally mandated.

    Advice to Management

Rich company could afford to offer better benefits.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many knowledgable people, and I was able to learn a lot about different technology that I otherwise wouldn't have had much exposure to (car audio, appliances, etc). I was offered a generous severance package when my department was eliminated.

    Cons

Management is often inefficient, lots of red tape

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The employee discount is excellent. Good but not great pay. Friendly environment to thrive in. Lots of things to learn about in store

    Cons

Favoritism in management, when district staff wants you gone they will find a way to make it happen, work life balance isn't great.

    Advice to Management

Be trustworthy. It's not a good look to openly lie to employees to get them to do what you want them to do

I have been working at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

Best buy provides a friendly and fun environment that allows you to really be yourself. There are several opportunities to grow within the company if you're dedicated to it.

    Cons

It can get overwhelming at times. Being a part time sales job, you are held to a much higher standard than other jobs. Specialty sales induction, constantly updated list of online product quizzes that are required to be completed.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, not much needs to be said. (For my current store at least) aside from managers contradicting each other almost daily, their great and always willing to try and help.

    Pros

    - Great place to bounce around and get good overall experience
    - Great employee discounts
    - The employees are friendly
    - Management is very easy to talk to and works closely with employees without micromanaging

    Cons

    - Not much recognition for employees that go above and beyond

Only one I can think of

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing your thing, Best Buy is hanging in there.

    Pros

    Customer Interaction Experience
    Flexible Scheduling
    Sales Experience with Technical Products
Authority to make deals with management approval
    Opportunity to gain a bonus

    Cons

High Pressure to Perform with little appreciation or recognition
Outdated Enterprise Systems are difficult to manage and too big to quickly navigate

    Advice to Management

Empower members of management to utilize new ideas in the workshops that are the individual stores. Give individual Salespeople easier to understand directions for improvement. Metrics are the least digestible pieces of information.
