I worked at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Help people
    Feeling that your work matters
No commission (better if you do not perform well under stress)

    Cons

Deal with angry and hateful people from time to time
    Not a great work-life balance
No commission (if you surpass your required monthly "numbers" then you do not receive any extra compensation, which can be frustrating)

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most employees were helpful and pleasant to work with. If you care about the customers and built trust, they will always ask for you.

    Cons

Management pushes employees to meet sales goals and gets low pay and no commission. Also, the policy on being late is really unreasonable. If you're 5 minutes late to your shift it's the same as not showing up. They also don't take doctor's notes. Management also picks favorites like crazy and let's them get away with whatever. If a customer tells management how well you did, there was no reward. In the last year Best Buy expects you to know about everything in the store instead of working on your own department.

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees more and recognize good work. Also recognize when people try. It's not they're on commission pay. Also, make sure your scheduling system works. There were times shifts changed on me and no one called to notify me. I then got punished for being late to my shift since I didn't know about the change. The managers assumed I was lying. The last time it happened, I had proof so I didn't get a write up.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work in the warehouse so you don't have to sell on the floor.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about employees or other things that aren't sales. Having to push protection plans and credit cards apps gets real old.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees more and quit micro managing every little thing!
