I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Monday - buffalo chicken salad Wednesday - pasta bar Great time to recover from the weekend and prep for the next weekend!

    Cons

The new CDO has reverted to analysis paralysis and doesn't have the stones to sign-off on a budget or direction. He has killed any advancement in technology for 2019, which leads me to believe BBY is in big trouble with cell phone market shirking and shopping habits changed. A bunch of legacy employees milking the system until their Social Security kicks in.

    Advice to Management

Better come up with something fast or your holiday will not be so jolly. Good luck finding US citizens willing to work for BBY after the way you are treating people in the short term. Please review Amazon's 13 principles for guidance?

    Pros

Fast paced and always challenging. Great people with upward opportunities. People that thrive on excitement will love holiday season.

    Cons

Can be very difficult to step away and "leave it at the door".

I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Growing company with lots of opportunity to learn and grow when I was there

    Cons

Company missed the competition from web based retailers like amazon, which has resulted in financial pressures and lack of investment in the business. Company must figure out how to get its compeitive advantage back.

I have been working at Best Buy

    Pros

On-site fitness center, excellent company cafeteria with healthy foods, cool architecture and landscaping at HQ.

    Cons

Many software projects are led by Best Buy employees who have zero software knowledge or experience, and this leads to incompetent decisions and frustration for people who actually know what they are doing. Their marketing is also archaic, and even though many of the employees think they have "innovative" ideas, if they would just do a few minutes of research on Google, they'd find out that they're actually doing things...

    Advice to Management

Ask yourself if you can really survive without strong online sales. If the answer is "no", hire people from Silicon Valley to bring your web site into the 21st century. And I don't mean 1-2 consultants, I mean outsource the entire thing to somebody very, very good. Yes, it will be a financial investment, but it certainly is paying off for places like Amazon.com.

I worked at Best Buy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Subsidized cafeteria and the food is decent Free parking Great staff discount and perks occasionally Great poll of talented and friendly coworkers

    Cons

While the company has every good attention to re-energize itself, the execution is poor. The whole eComm spent pretty much all of its effort on one major project and yet wasn't able to deliver until this year. Only pay lip-services when it comes to people and culture. High turnovers across many departments speak volume Unstable and unprofessional management - some of them have unacceptable attitudes and behaviour....
