I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Money, freedom to run business as I see fit as long as I’m performing. Best Buy listens to heir employees and is growing in the right direction. 401k, discounted stock options, lots of good people working here. I am able to developer my team deeper than just teaching them how to sell, but also teaching them how to be better people.

    Cons

It’s retail. The monkey potential is not nearly as high as other commissioned based sales positions. The work you do is not dictated by what you do, but by the choices of others.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture has always been a differentiator for Best Buy. People love to work here, and we are encouraged to find more ways to empower our associates and improve the employee experience.

I've always felt the pay was competitive. Anyone who complains about pay probably isn't comparing it to a similar job. Additionally, Best Buy rewards movement over mastery, so your raises are much more substantial from promotions rather than just being great at your job.

    Cons

Nobody leaves a bad company, they leave a bad boss. Once you have a GM who doesn't like you, it becomes very hard to promote or transfer stores because they will sandbag you when someone calls for their input. We focus so much on promoting from within that we will ask other's input and way they more than the merits of the candidate.

    Advice to Management

We know you "don't play favorites." But of course you do. Just be better at pretending you don't have a favorite.

    Pros

Great place to grow, or stay where you feel comfortable. Very inclusive and focused on D&I.

    Cons

A lot of people have been with the company for a long time and can get stuck in how it's been done, but the appetite for that is less and less

    Pros

Focus on development, salary matches effort level, competitive, ability to move locations and departments and learn a lot of different skills

    Cons

Hours are horrible, results are expected regardless of circumstances, work-life balance is not prioritized, restructures over the years have made it hard for young leaders to move past a certain level

I worked at Best Buy (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Best discount in the US (5% above cost)

    Cons

No growth in stores that show favoritism.
You will reach a cap before you realize certain people don't want you to be in certain roles.

    Advice to Management

Stop stealing peoples ideas and using as your own. Stop putting people in positions of power that have no business being in them. Stop overlooking talent.
