I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great retail environment to work in. The company provides great benefits for anyone that takes the time to seek them out including health benefits, stock purchase plans, 401K, vacation for full time employees, and tuition reimbursement to name a few. Each store can provide a different experience based on the leadership team but for the most part you'll find yourself in a great work environment. The company as a whole is dedicated to improving the business and addressing areas of opportunity to ensure long term success.

    Cons

No major cons, it's a big box retail company that is still able to present a good overall employee experience at any level. Internal promotions generally do not garner the same salary as someone that is coming from the outside which can be frustrating for someone looking to grow long term with the company. Holidays don't exist anymore working here either. They stay open for every major holiday except Easter and Christmas and expect everyone to be able to work on the other holidays.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on growing the business and staying competitive. Great job ensuring employees have the needed resources both for the job and at the personal level. Look at promoting internal candidates at a more competitive rate instead of "low balling" them, which is a known and sadly accepted practice with most leaders.

  4. "Assistant Manager"

I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good culture when the arrow is pointing up

    Cons

Micro managing and unnecessary implementation of sales models. Unrealistic budgets that work against employees. Corporate axe comes down hard at any time.

    Advice to Management

Offer a more achievable and realistic bonus structure and focus more on customer relationships opposed to sales models and attachments.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Money, freedom to run business as I see fit as long as I’m performing. Best Buy listens to heir employees and is growing in the right direction. 401k, discounted stock options, lots of good people working here. I am able to developer my team deeper than just teaching them how to sell, but also teaching them how to be better people.

    Cons

It’s retail. The monkey potential is not nearly as high as other commissioned based sales positions. The work you do is not dictated by what you do, but by the choices of others.
