I worked at Best Buy (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked with a great group of people. But then the company got rid of half of the managers, and it all went to crap from there.

    Cons

They're more focused on selling Services than the well-being of their employees or how well their employees work.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees and each other. Retail is hard work, so appreciate the ones who are putting in all their effort.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

Great management, happy coworkers, job freedom, and plenty of room for job growth. I would recommend applying here! Great company.

    Cons

Like any other entry level customer service job, the pay is good but not outstanding. You can always make more by moving up.

    Advice to Management

I don't actually have any advice to management as the management at my store is great. Definitely the best managers I've worked for so far!

I worked at Best Buy (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great Training
Managers encourage and teach you how to provide excellent customer service
    Bonus incentives
    Positive company culture
    Great employee discount

    Cons

    Overstaffed
Scheduling was inconsistent; it would be nice if it was given to employees earlier so that they could actually plan their lives around it instead of knowing last minute when they are scheduled to work.
Management is too lenient with flakey employees

    Advice to Management

Management did a great job motivating employees by keeping everyone informed with where we ranked compared to other stores. It pushed us to be the best. Keep striving for excellence!

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good starting pay compared to other retailers

    Fun, team atmosphere

Opportunities to learn and play with all the latest gadgets

Bonuses based on store performance (monthly)

A business that recognizes its shortcomings and tries to fix them (albeit at a slow rate)

    Cons

Management a little snobby, uptight. Rather than help you, train you, and lead you they sort of just point the finger, get upset, and boss people around.

Too much overbearing corporate presence without actual constructive criticism. When corporate visits it's more about checking off a checklist and being ominous than actually being supportive and constructive

    Performance development lacking

    Training mediocre at best

Pay grade system can't keep up with inflation

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and dignity. Sit down, talk to them, ask them what they wanna do where they wanna go. Make them feel valued and they will be valuable. As a manager, do your job and LEAD. Don't be the crotchety manager nobody wants to be around. Train and lead your employees to do good things!
