    I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Employee discount. When I was there it was cost plus five percent. This could be a significant discount depending on the item, especially store brand stuff.

    Cons

    Very little product knowledge training. What was given were simply glorified ads provided by the manufacturers. Unless you are already knowledgeable on a particular subject, you're ill-equipped to answer questions.

    Advice to Management

    More and better quality training.

    Pros

    Great Salary, limited carrer growth in th current landscape of the company, has rebounded well from the position the company was in just a few short years ago

    Cons

    Reduced Leadership causes problems in a growing enviroment of resposibilities, they are often piling on additional requirements without supporting the labor model to accomplish the goals at hand

    Advice to Management

    Add labor back to the stores, and secondary leadership positions, in the smaller stores the requirements are become more and more unrealistic

    Pros

    Decent pay. Decent bonus structure. Things change up fairly often so you don't get bored easily and keeps you on your toes

    Cons

    Not really built for growth/development now. Built for sustainability, so there is a short ceiling for promotion compared to previous setup prior to the last reorg.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the focus on what got the brand to its pinnacle, while still respecting the need to adapt. You have to come into leadership roles ready made now already knowing it all, which doesn't provide encouragement for someone looking to build from the ground up

    Cons

    High demand on sales associates to reach individual productivity goals in each department. Unfair bonus structure for motivating associates. Hard to promote within, especially within the same store.

    Great customer experience, benefits, flexible shift, great teammates and great working environment

    Cons

    Long hours, poor communication at the store level, product replenishment for orders either late or don't show up and not much room for career advancement.

    Pros

    The people are great; at least for the most part.

    Cons

    Doesn't pay enough. Not enough room for advancement. Managers are very petty when it comes to the late & attendance policy (they will write you up for anything) A lot of favoritism. Its almost impossible to work anywhere other than best buy; they have this "take it or leave it" kind of attitude. When full time positions do become available, they choose employees that know the least.

    Advice to Management

    Raise the pay. Be a little more sympathetic towards employees (after all, we are all you have) choose who's right for a position, not whom you like.
