I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The opportunity to meet new people and make a relationship and to have the locals come in for advice and see a familiar face. Great place to get "hands-on" feel for tech.

    Cons

Management needs to not be up-front with their blatant favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Nowhere does it say that speaking Spanish was a requirement for the position, yet, when i was interviewed by the manager, he asked about 4 times if i spoke it..or even Portuguese. I have years of experience under my belt with the company, as i just left one from a different town. Moved here and was turned down for employment by a manager who refused me not because i couldn't do the job, but because i couldn't speak Spanish. I went in and saw who filled the position. A damn shame.

    Pros

The benefits and the guaranteed 40 hours a week. Paid holidays and time off. Make great contacts with other companies to move up

    Cons

Too much work not enough pay. Customers feel entitled. Can’t help any other customer that is not Verizon related. Will get thrown in other departments while breaking your Verizon role

    Advice to Management

    To coach better

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good team members sometimes, also sometimes there is good pay and benefits. They try to provide accommodations for employees. It's really really really hard to try and think of any advantages or benefits of this company

    Cons

    - held accountable for the mistakes of others, and expected to do more work in half the time. When a display is set wrong, you must first fix it and then do it yourself but management will act like it's your fault
    - temperamental management— when they don't get their way, they will throw a fit him. Supervisors show no leadership ability. They don't care if you succeed. They will not help you.
    - bad employees are promoted to full time and moved into leadership roles. Often times your team leader will have a very bad attitude and be very rude, and management doesn't care as long as they do an acceptable job.

    Advice to Management

    - You need a manager training program. Promoting from within is good only if you train the managers that you promote. When managers are on a power trip just because of their position, then performance will suffer
    - STOP MICROMANAGING! If you see your employee working, let them work and do their job. You can't possibly expect them to do something in 10 minutes that takes 50 minutes

I have been working at Best Buy (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None favoritism will either help you or screw you

    Cons

While you do the job of your supervisor, train new employees and perform to be in the top of the company, best buy will do a so called "better chance to bonus"changes to your pay. Basically best buy does not pays commissions but they had a fair bonus system until we started making the numbers so they changed it. Not only difficult to go up as internal interviews are a popularity contest but also impossible to have a benefits that match the hard work.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the loyal underpaid employees that continuously try to grow
