I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When it comes down to it, my job is fun. I spend all day talking to people about the latest and greatest in technology and what it can do for them. Non-commission based sales make the job a lot less stressful, and more often than not I get to be proud of what I do because my number one priority is a happy customer. The work environment is primarily a store to store concern. I find that with my current store, my coworkers and managers are mostly good natured and work well together. But I understand that isn't always the case. I believe it is a similar story in regards to career development. There are plenty of problems but at the end of the day, if you like technology you will have fun working at best buy.

    Cons

The motto of Best Buy management appears to be "focus on everything, all the time, in less time." We are consistently told to go above and beyond, and then after we do that, to go above and beyond that. It can be frustrating and at times our feedback goes unheeded, especially with upper management. Despite not being on commission, we are frequently treated as if we are, and there is a lot of pressure to hit our sales goals. There is a lot of oversight and micromanagement at times, but most immediate management has been very team-centric and always been a pleasure to work with.

    Advice to Management

Focus first and foremost on teaching employees to help each and every customer in a meaningful way, and sales second. This is touted as a big value, but in practice it falls by the wayside.
