I worked at Best Buy part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Team was friendly, management was appreciative if you performed well. For work requiring limited experience and only a HS diploma, it paid fairly well and was easier than a similar level food service job.

    Cons

We were given a base wage and small bonus based on store performance. However they tracked hourly sales, profitability, transactions per hour, etc as if we were commissioned employees. Most people working there were in late teens/early twenties and had limited experience. There was not a ton of training provided on the specific products, so people had to learn how to give good sales pitches while avoiding detailed questions. If you had low sales you could be fired, but if you were top performer in the store you got no financial reward (maybe a $20 gift card)
